Basically:
FLASH -> Flash image for the start from the flash. Write to flash with USB stick.
USB -> Image for starting from a USB stick. Tar.gz is installed on the USB stick with the MBI (MAXI Boot Installer), for example.
EXCEPTION HD51 / ZGEMMA H7 / Bre2ze 4K
FLASH -> Flash image for the start from the flash, intended for an offline update. The content is copied to the box after / tmp and can then be flashed via the Extras menu.
USB -> flash image for starting from flash. Write to flash with USB stick.
MULTI -> Contains the files from Flash + USB in one package.
EXCEPTION VU + DUO 4K / VU + UNO 4K SE / VU + ZERO 4K / VU + ULTIMO 4K / VU + UNO 4K / VU + SOLO 4K
FLASH -> Flash image for the start from the flash, intended for an offline update. The content is copied to / tmp on the box, renamed to kernelX.bin and rootfsX.tar.bz2 (X = partition) and can then be flashed using the Tools menu.
USB -> Contains the files for flashing from the USB stick - SingleBoot.
MULTI -> Contains the files for flashing from the USB stick - MultiBoot.
There are only MultiBoot images for VU + DUO 4K, VU + UNO 4K SE, VU + ZERO 4K, VU + ULTIMO 4K, VU + UNO 4K and VU + SOLO 4K available for FLASH and MULTI. The file names are changed slightly accordingly.
EXCEPTION VU + DUO
FLASH -> Currently not available.
USB -> Contains the files for flashing from the USB stick, but also suitable for an offline update. To do this, copy the content to / tmp on the box and flash it using the Tools menu.
