The main boxes I have at the moment is a VU+ Zero 4K and the old model Z gemma 7S. I would like good support and good images to install which the existing VU+ and Z Gemma box both have.

It will be used for streaming off the internet, possibly terrestrial tv to enable me to record it. A bonus if catchup services could be recorded.

I thought of a Z Gemma 9 or top choice for me an Octagon SF8008 as it seems a good price. I watch in 4K when I can. I would like the best picture quality I can get for the money.

Please recommend what you think of the two and suggest another if you think its better. Both of these are well supported with backup images.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Try using a small capacity usb stick. I use a 1GB and format it to fat. Next unzip image onto usb stick. Insert into box with box turned off. Turn on. Hopefully it will now flash your box. When box fully flashed it will blink at a faster rate. Look at tutorial, I have had the same problem when I thought image was fully loaded off the stick when it was`nt. That fixed it for me.

I don`t know much but there is a different version of vpnmanager. ipk for the version of Python on your sat image. I guess that needs a Python 3 plugin say vpnmanager ver 1.17. if the image is Python 2 then use an older version of vpnmanager. they are all in the forum with some good guides to set them up. You add your ovpn file to vpnmanager when its installed. Your vpn service will let you download and you can install all and just select the one you want for what you want to do. Its straight forward and really good software when you set it up.

The last I heard some years ago was you had to have there set top box paired to there card or you could`nt get all the channels you subscribed to. If it wasn`t paired you could use it in another box but only get some channels. When mated you could only use it in that box.

People were offering subscriptions and cards for a year and you could keep the box and renew subscription if you wanted. That is perhaps 5 years ago.

The sellers of cards could update the subscription for you after the year.

    Hope this has helped.

Hi, I have found out some of HD drives are not recognised by the VU box so you may have to use a work around it. First try to format the HD with ntfs if it has I think fat system on it. I found you need other files adding unless you use NTFS as it wont work.

If that does`nt work use a flash drive to record to then transfer by computer to your HD. Try different images. On my other box Open Spa was the only one that recognised that HD. Go into your boxes menu and see if it recognises your HD. On mine the box sees it but it is impossible to install. I have previously posted about the problem but got no reply so expect it not to be straight forward.

Your television should see the HD attached to one of its usb ports.

    Hi everyone!

    1) I have sat receiver Gigablue Trio 4K, the latest Open ATV image (with Python 3) and latest VPN Manager installed, all working OK.

    2) My VPN provider = IPVanish. I have dowloaded a configs folder by them. In it was included a series of ".ovpn" files and a "c.ipvanish.com.crt" and nothing else.

My question. What other files i need and how I configure them before I transferred them all in the "openvpn" folder of my hdd?

    Thank you!

    Hi Astrolabos,

I use VPNManager V1.1.7 latest off this site for pyththon 3 installed ipk by add plugins. I create a folder on my usb stick called ovpn. I download the latest IPVanish ovpn files to that folder just unzipping file from downloads into that folder. I do this regularly as some of the servers change.

Open vpnmanager after installing on add ons and then select menu.

    Change

VPN free mode Off as you use IPVanish.

All configs in one folder. On

Storage location for config files (OVPN folder). media/hdd/ovpn

default dns which you sometimes have to set.

    Auto start on.

    Open VPN resolve On.

    Set optional dns server off.

Then enter your user name for IPVanish account.

    Then your password.

Press enter and all settings will be remembered.

Come out of the menu and select the server and country from the list you want to use. It boots up to the last server you used.

    Hope this helps

I finally found the problem it was my router. On my internet suppliers forum a couple of people were saying there works VPN connection was being stopped.

The reply was to reset the router as the none connection problem was sometimes caused by a software update on your router. Pressing the pin in to reset it worked straight away. I had already tried rebooting which had`nt worked. Another reply was if that did`nt work to swop out the router.

I have been using VPN Manager now for a couple of years together with E2iplayer. It worked fine. I havent used my Zgemma H7 box for a few days and when turned on VPN manager shows you all the connections on the list on the left Brussels etc but when double clicked on to get the VPN working the right hand side shows your connection and internet provider then goes blank and then should show your VPN connection but just comes back to your ip address and provider. I had other images installed. A couple of Pure and others, two Python 3 which worked before. Now nothing. Reinstalled from backups and plugins I had saved using Pure recovery image and VPN manager wont work on any image. I used ver 1.1.7 for Pythan 3 images and 1.1.4 for pythan 2. They all load VPN manager fine, sees the ovpn file on usb but wont connect. It tries to connect. Downloaded the latest ovpn file from IPVanish but still no joy.

Has anybody any idea. Thanks for reading.

    I get no error code

have you checked your nameservers settings

It set it up automatically. I checked on my setup its 192.168.1.1 which I think worked before

I had an Ultimo then bought a Zero 4K. I know its basic but compare the picture quality with your 4k box and I think you may have a nice surprise.

    hi all

is there a way of watching 4k content on iplayer plugin . i have a dm900 i have tried to upscale the resolution on the box setting with no joy . is there any twiks to the plugin or the box ( i do have a 4k tv ).

    thanks for your help

You could try recording the file using IPTV Player and playback with say Kodi plugin. Worth trying assuming your dm900 is a 4K box. If not record using your dm box and playback on computer or other box.

I think you should be in the Zgemma section for h7s boxes. I suggest you put a Force update image on your box. Plenty of info in the correct section.

I will help if you cannot understand it bit the explanations there are straightward and well written.

It sounds like the image loaded is slightly corrupted not that I know much.Try your lnb cables and download a settings addon to give you the frquencies , polarities whatever. Some have got the Italian terrestrial channels pretuned, If you don`t get any joy I would download the latest Pure2 recovery image with 4 partitions and flash that. It should all work well then you can seriously start messsing with the box. Great fun.

To change the settings etc to start you use the menu button on the remote control. You won`t know what your router settings etc are until you look on your box.

You will then need to set up what inputs you have from lnb`s. Mine are input 1 Simple and set to motorised. Input 2 for me is single lnb fixed on Astra 28 deg east.

Input 3 terrestrial dvb and set to your local transmitter.

Thinking about it when the box boots up it goes into the setup routine. It asks what your tv resolution is so even with lnbs or aerial disconnected you should have a picture on your tv of the setup menu, assuming your HDMI cable is connected and the correct HDMI input is selected on your tv.

My box when new had the OpenVix image installed.

After simple connections please let us know what happens then we can walk you through the further steps.

    Hi

I think we need a bit more information about the image installed on your box and is it your first bootup on a new box or a backup image.

I will try to help then.

When buying a new tv one of the things that concerns me if you use some apps built into the tv , like going back 1 week in the Freeview programme guide to view, you have to give the tv manufacturer permission to access all the programmes you view which I don`t like and others. If I watch You Tube I don`t mind them knowing what You Tube video`s I watch or am interested in but not others as privacy is important.

I cannot update the software on the tv (firmware) via the internet because I didn`t agree to there free access. I have to download on my pc and put a file on a usb drive like most of us do with our sat boxes to update. I can watch through my Sky box catch up tv progs but as I have had that subscription many years I cannot remember what privacy I signed up to. I don`t mind Sky knowing what I watch through its box but not others.

A friend looking for a new tv thought that some manufacturers would`nt let you opt out so its important to find out before you buy your new tv. If you value your privacy.:shocked3:

Hello dear friends, I have now tested for good, excellent and high signal quality, and the higher the quality, the lower and worse the signal quality. While I have precisely adjusted the dish and the base. Now what do you think is the problem with my work? Thank you for your help.

I wonder if its possible your dish is not correctly tracking the satellites , hence the lower and worse the signal quality. Perhaps your declination angle is slightly out.

I have only ever set up polar mounts before. Can you move the dish to Thor or another around 1 deg then twist base and alter declination slightly until you get a picture

on the strongest transponder on that satellite. If its a strong signal I used to put a book between the lnb to degrade the signal strength then adjust and try the tracking on other satellites.
