The earths wobble when I had a big dish, a 2m Precision using a home made feed on the KU feedhorn. Swedish Microwave depolariser which you could turn for circular polarity signals. Incredible difference it made. swedish Microwave I think magnetic depolariser and Swedish Microwave 0.8 max lnb. Far better signal than this modern stuff. This was for D2Mac which was the golden age for me. At the time I looked into it and the signal getting weaker on some birds was they were old and allowed to go into I think more eliptical orbits which were`nt properly geostationary hence the other motor for inclinined orbit tracking. I just had the Precision std Polar mount and used 12 " and 18 " motors over the years. Trees and the neighbours house let me go about 30 deg east and I think Panam sat at 45 deg West but the dish that far west was pretty well masked. I tended to look at the weak signals and weather made a big difference.

It looks like the lnb is now faulty. From my limited experience normally either the vertical or horizontal goes weak on signal strength. I have had the centre copper wire either break off where it goes onto the lnb . I have also had corrosion on the wire that you can clean off with emery cloth, wet and dry or whatever then reassemble. Worse case I have had water ingress down the inner cable which can only be corrected by cutting the end of the rg6 and remaking the connection. Seal the end well with coax-seal or similar. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Dex71, Have you tried the updated version of the recovery file from Gorski thread ?

PurE2 "typical" 4 partitions image for Zgemma H7

6.5 version recovery dated from today when I clicked on the download page , even though the thread is dated from Feb 2019. Its worth trying as Pure2 seem on top of things.

Gorski solved my vpn manager problem as I was well stuck. Will keep my fingers crossed.

I had problems the same as you Dex71. The only way I won was to download Gorski`s multiboot recovery file from his how to do. Nothing else worked for me. Mine was a brand new box with openvix installed but I wanted Pure2 in the first partition, then to always install the other images that I wanted to try, to other partitions through Pure2.

    This worked for me.

The file downloaded from his thread was Zgemmah7-PurE2-6.5-20201220-recovery-emmc .

Nothing else worked and some files that say they are multiboot when put onto stick are not seen by the box when you want to install them in the Pure2 multiboot.

I am sure that is me doing something wrong.

Put the Pure2 Recovery file on a newly formatted usb Stick still zipped up. I use an old 1 GB formatted on fat 32. Put in one of the rear usb slots. I use the top usb of the 2 ver USB slots. No reason why. Disconnected all other USB`s. Press button on front behind the card slot flap and turn power on at the back. Hold front button until it says flash then you can let go . It should put the Pure 2 image Multiboot on your box. Thanks Gorsky for your info.

I have a VU Zero 4K that I think is better picture quality than my VU Ultimo 4K. This is based on BBC World News in SD on Hotbird. The quality varies by how good the transmission is on this channel but when it`s at its best the Zero has the edge in my opinion . I have a ZGemma S7 as well that I don`t think the quality is quite as good on that channel as the Zero 4K but some loaded images seems to give better picture quality. The Gemma is incredible value but me not understanding cannot get it working anything like as well as the Zero 4K. Installed 4 partitions , Pure2 on one, Open ATV and Vix onthe other . Waiting to try another. Tried Open PLI 8 but could`nt install VPN Manager. A steep learning curve hopefully.

There are lots of back up images for the 4K Zero that work out the box. On the Ultimo I wont comment on terrestrial quality but I feel I wasted my money buying the extra tuner. Sorry I cannot help on the other boxes. The ZGemma terrestrially is better than the 4K Ultimo I think by quite a bit.

One thing I noticed is the signal strength on the ZGemma S7 is less than the Zero 4k. After just buying it in the last couple of days my dish is frozen and cannot move so cannot comment on weak signal strength channels. Talking to people I am not sure how accurate the signal strength given by the sat boxes is.

Best of luck on your choice.

I dont know but perhaps the tuner that finds more channels is producing less noise and is cleaner so it is more sensitive. I thought it was the front end of the system that produced the noise , but perhaps the tuner reflects on the sensitivity of the sat box.Could you swap the tuners around and see if it works the same.

If you can it would be ineresting to see if the extra channels were a weaker signal.

Perhaps somebody could help with my problem with this image. It works the best for me. I can change the vpn manager to version 1.13 I think it is and then record to a usb flash drive great. The odd time something goes wrong and the network on my box stops working. With vpnmanager ver 1.03 it regularly stopped working on its network settings. The only way it will work again is to reload the image again and start from the begining. With the latest version of vpnmanager it is far better. I can then transfer the files off the usb drive by computer to my Elements 25AZ 1.82 tb hard disk.

The problem is this image no matter what I do will not recognise the usb harddrive.

To use this box with hard drive I have to install a version of OpenPli. The hard disk is recognised and can play through Kodi or the inbuilt player. My problem with openPli is as soon as vpnmanager is installed and you try to get it to run the network stops working straight away and you need another install.

I unfortunately cannot get any image to work as I want. Both are backup images.

I can carry on using Egami 9.0.4 as it is my favourite and keep transfering files.

If anybody knows an answer it would be great to share it and many thanks for the help.

One of my last receivers was a DM 7020 the old none HD version which had a really good tuner for weak signals but the choice of images was still limited as they were`nt being updated so I went for a VU+ ultimo box a few years ago. In comparison its thresh hold was not as good. Some channels on the weak signals were no longer receiveable but the VU box excelled everywhere else. New images for this are a lot slower appearing as it is getting old. It gets its memory full up when trying to use online services like media portal. It still works well but I was thinking about a change.

Could someone suggest a new receiver with lots of image choice and a good low threshold in case I start moving my dish again.

I have a subscription to a sat service and use its receiver and dish nearly all the time. The other receiver and its dish is just for messing with.

Thanks for reading and any suggestions.
