    I went about this a different way. I have an Android stick (MK809). On it I have Dreamdroid and VLC installed. It uses wireless to connect to my Lan. My Amiko Alien2 is wired. With Dreamdroid I can browse the Alien2's bouquets, click on the channel I want and then click Stream - which then uses VLC Player

    I'm struggling to play HD but SD is perfect. Mind you, I can stream from the Alien2 to my laptop in HD perfectly wirelessly via OpenWebIf and VLC

    I didn't think that my image included channels other than those at 28.2e so all channels should be valid and selectable. For 28.2, it should work straight out of the box. I can only suggest re-flashing. I put up a new image last night which now has the latest version of AutoBouquets and also has Rat's Picons too so give that a go first.

    Hi,
    thanks for this image. Have installed it and got it running nicely, but cannot get epg to work. Have run it through downloader and forced reload, but still got no epg. Also the Media player crashes receiver so can you tell me if it can be uninstalled

    regards

    Are you using a satellite other than 28.2e ? If so, you'll need to specify the sources within the Setup > CrossEPG > Providers.

    As for media player, to watch previously recorded stuff, I just hit the Play button on the remote and it works perfectly.

    I put image on my box but keep getting incorrect login details on dcc
    username... root
    password...
    telnet login incorrect
    please help

    Sorry, Telnet = root and pwd pkteam

    Hi all

    I like many, have been through the frustration of finding is a stable E2 image for Alien2. Once the box goes under the TV, the family then start to enjoy it until the lockups start and the frustration sets in before being finally ridiculed as to why we bought these heaps of junk. Well now, I have finally got a stable box to be proud of and am delighted to share it with others. There's no point just keeping it to myself :)

    Given that it's based around python2.7 (like OpenAR-P) rather than the HDMU based 2.6, I certainly found that CPU usage is very low (idle 85% on average) and memory is good. These figures (Telnet to box and type "TOP") seem way lower to HDMU figures. There is one MASSIVE difference with Hyperion in that streaming of channels other than the ones being watch on the box actually work. I could never get this working in AR-P.

    Here's a link to my complete Hyperion v2 based Image

    This image is working with the following plugins:-
    AutoTimer, AutoVolumeAdjustment, AutoBoquets, CrossEPG, CoolTVGuide, 1channel, Icefilms, TSMedia, Various Skins, all Picons, Time from NTP, OSCam (blank - no line), SDA1 mounted as HDD, OpenWebIf, Streaming channels separate from one being watched - yipee, SambaServer, PermanentTimeShift and IPTV Updater v1.1.

    You can obviously install any other plugins you choose. Enjoy and I'm sure other users will benefit from any feedback you have for this Image

    FTP Login username root, password blank

    Oscam Web Gui - http://box_ip:8888 username root password oscam

    Don't forget to click the Thanks button below :)

    If you are comfortable with editing the oscam server file, then just do it as I said. In the gui, you can then click on Shutdown and Restart.

    Or if you want to use the GUI completely, click on Readers, add a name in the bottom and click ADD. In the new reader screen, you only need to add the DEVICE, USER and PASSWORD fields.

    Forget about editing the oscam.server file and just enter your line via the web gui - http://box_up:8888 - username root password oscam. Re-flash the image to start again. I wouldn't advise messing about with the other files or dvbapi until you are up and running first. You are probably using some VU+ parameters in the oscam.server file which the Amiko doesn't like.

    ALternatively, here is a sample reader from the server file. You should only really need to change the four items in italics below - dyndns, port, username and password

    [reader]
    label = CLine
    description = CLine
    protocol = cccam
    device = dyndns_name,port
    user = username
    password = password
    inactivitytimeout = 30
    group = 1
    emmcache = 1,3,2
    blockemm-unknown = 1
    blockemm-g = 1
    cccversion = 2.1.4
    cccreshare = 0

    I want to give a try to this image, and I do; but I've a problem: I've to change satellite and rescan services, but I'm not able to do it; what must do to change satellite? I've seen also a plugin "autobuquet 28.2" but i'm not able to delete it. Regards.

    For changing satellites, go to Setup > Service Searching > Tuner Configuration. If your satelite is not listed, go to satellites-xml.org and make yourself a new version of satellites.xml and FTP it to /etc/enigma2/.

    Autoboquets is to make channel lists like the *** UK box

    Sorry one more issue!!

    Im getting a lot of glitching/freezing and a grey screen with this image, i have had it on other images butit seems to be worse!
    If i swap to spark it works fine with the same provider.
    Is this the image or the oscam plugin version?

    Cheers

    Sorry mate, I don't know but always worth a try. However, I have no problems

    I have started to use this image and so far so good apart from one little thing and its just me being picky, when you press the ok button to bring up the channel list there is a discription of what is on now but I would also like to know what is on next without having to use the epg, so does anyone know how to get this to happen? Is it just a skin that I could use or is it a plugin or even a bit of code that needs written? Please help. Thanks

    That would be the Skin. However, try the Info Button. I cannot remember what it will display

    Regarding System Update, the OpenAR-P image hasn't been updated since (mind you - doesn't really need updating based on yours and my experiences)

    I really don't know why the scan takes so long but hey, only needed once I guess or else, run before going to bed !!!

    I was positive I had implemented the option to record two simultaneously. Thanks for the heads up because it means I haven't got it myself and it could trip me up at some stage :)

    I think if I kept going with HDMU, either my box or me would have ended up being dumped out the window. The family are much happier now :)

    The odd time I had problems, I simply unzip'd the IPK file and then FTP'd it to the correct folders on the box. As mentioned previously, OpenAR-P is based on Python2.7 (OE 2.0) and not 2.6 so this could be the issue too

    For all of you who DON'T have HDMI 1080p connected boxes

    My image was done on a HD 1080p with HDMI connection. So you will need to change to scart or a lower resolution.

    Start up the box and once booted, press the following

    MENU
    DOWN
    DOWN
    DOWN
    OK
    OK
    OK

    You will now be on the A/V settings menu. At this point, do either of two choices

    1. For Scart, Press LEFT followed by GREEN

    or

    2. For HDMI @ 720p, Press DOWN followed by LEFT, followed by GREEN

    One of the most requested plugins (which I have never used myself) is PermanentTimeshift.

    I find the wiki really unhelpful / confusing. It tells you what a thing is and then the default value. But in many cases, you have to know what something is to understand that it is. It's a real black or white document rather than going a little deeper in explanations.

    Anyway, thanks for your explanation. Should I be able to get the same speed of responses when using the LB as opposed to not using it ? Right now, times look higher. I don't want to spend ages trying to achieve the impossible.

    Does anyone out there have an oscam.conf file which they have working well for LB WITHOUT any local cards ?

    Thanks Musogeek

    I have all readers setup with equal weights of 100.

    If I decided to be reading from a best 5 peers, would I set lb_nbest_readers = 5 or should I set it to 1 and the OSCam will use it's own stats to work out which one is best ? Consequentally, what would then be the recomendation for the value for lb_nfb_readers be ?

    Regards
