Hi guys, using the Apollo firmware with Blue HD skin and on the menu that comes on screen when changing channels etc there is a green circle with a green arrow inside flashing all the time on the top right corner.

Can anyone tell me what this is, it just started doing it last night?

It's ok guys, got it sorted. Found out it was to do with software updates:)

I've stuck in the OpenVix Apollo with the groovy Blue HD (Sly) skin and really like the look and feel of this one. It's also taking me a while to get used to the new lay out and having to use different buttons for different functions as well as working out where to put my Nlines and mg config files via FTP. Anyway, so far so good but I'll know better overnight although I did notice that I now have a choice to update the time via transponder or from the internet so I can try the NTP if the transponder doesn't keep up to date.

I will let ya know what's happening anyway, no green light so far. To be honest I can live with the green light but have issues with the time being out of wack as this just screws up my channel list and turns my receiver into an old Openbox by having to select the channel to see what on at the present time.

Got up this morning and green light back on and the time was 35 mins ahead, bit of a bummer. Seems there is a hardware fault somewhere. I guess I'll just have to restart the box each time it does it and maybe buy a new box sometime in the future. Good excuse for an upgrade anyway:)

New VU+ Solo SE ordered so problem will soon disappear...lol

Ok mate, not sure if I need that plugin as I don't use that much of flash anyway. All I'd have on the box would be Mgcamd 1.38a, Picons for 28e and any one skin at a time and now that I will be using the USB flash I will be putting the picons on there along with epg.
Good to know for the future though in case I want or need more room on the receivers flash.

    Cheers

Hey guys, I have just ordered a VU+ Solo SE and I have a Sandisk Extreme 64gb pen and was wondering would it be ok to use this for all my needs, i.e. Picons, EPG and a bit of Timeshift when I need to answer the door etc?....and of course the odd programme I want to record.

It just think an external HDD would be wasted. I have a 750GB Sata drive and an IcyBox enclosure for it but thinking it might be overkill considering all that it's going to be used for.

    Cheers

Cheers my friend but I think the VU+ Duo 2 is a bit out of my price range for all I need it for. I'll just go for the Solo SE, that should do my job and I'll give the VU+ Uno to my daughter and she can use it in her bedroom. It will save me buying another one for her as she's not to worried about the fault it's got as this doesn't affect the normal viewing of channels.

Cheers mate, just checked the modulator to see if it had the rca out plugs on it and it does so as you say an rca cable from receiver to modulator would do the job...nice one.

I'll just go ahead and shop around and order a Vu+ Solo SE. Just need to make sure it's a genuine one as I've seen a lot of the clone boxes around.

Just checked and the Vu+ Solo SE is out the window as it doesn't have an RF out or a Scart so I can connect it into my bedroom like I have my Uno box connected using the IR extenders and Scart to RF convertor:( Forgot to mention that bit:(

Hey guys, now that I know my VU+ Uno has a fault I'm on the hunt for a new receiver. I'm not worried about having loads of plugins, HBBtv and all that jazz. Just a good Enigma 2 box which has the basics like Cross EPG and able to change skins etc. I don't record as much as I used too so not worried about an internal HDD as I just pause and play the odd time and a usb drive would do the job. I'm not worried about having a twin tuner either as I just use a single lnb and watch pretty much whats on at the time.
I was going to stick with the VU+ boxes as I know my way around these and it would save me having to map my way around a different brand box.

I was thinking about a VU+ Solo or Vu+ Solo SE and wondering would there be a massive difference performance wise between these receivers?

    Cheers

I've flashed the box to the latest version and put everything in from scratch and it worked for a few hours and then the green light came back on and the time shifted again to nearly 2 hours ahead. I can't work this out at all, I have my box set for GMT and when I restart the time comes back to normal but green light remains on and eventually the time changes again. I'm just wondering is there any kind of battery inside these receivers for some sort of back up regarding any settings?

It has me baffled and my only conclusion is that the receiver is faulty.

Well I put the old 2.0.3 back in from fresh and added my plugins and other stuff without using the personal backup and worked fine for an hour or so until it updated the wrong time and then the green light came back on. So I think this light has something to do with the time or Cross EPG or something. If I reboot the receiver the time corrects itself and no green light then after an hour or so the time jumps like 1h 35mins ahead for no apparent reason and it ends up throwing my EPG listing out of wack and then have to restart the box. It won't correct on a "restart enigma 2" as it has to be a full restart. Getting really fed up with it now and might have to try Vix or something as the latest BH image has muted sound when I switch Sats as explained:(

At a bit of a loss now.

I'm just going to put a fresh copy of 2.0.3 in as this seems to be the most stable for me and go from there instead of putting my personal backup in as this seems to be where part of the problem is. I'll let you know how I get on:)

    Thanks for the reply mate.

Is it ok to use my personal backup on a later image?
I'm currently on Black Hole 2.0.3 and was thinking of changing it to the latest one, would this be ok. It's just I've never done it that way as I've always started from fresh but it's a lot of hassle getting it back to the way I wanted.

I tried putting in my backup and the same thing was happening so I put in Blackhole ver 2.1.3 and everything worked fine but when I changed to a different satellite I had no sound until I hit to a different channel up or down and then the sound came on again. This was really annoying so I've now went back to my own backup and green light is back. I've updated Cool EPG and the likes and no difference. One thing I've notice when the light starting showing was my time was 36 mins later than the actual time which screws up my EPG listing so I'm thinking this might have something to do with the green light as the box doesn't seem to be correcting the time off any transponders until I move to say 19.2E and back, then it corrects itself. Very strange!

I'm gonna try one of the Blackhole backups and see how that goes and will let you know.

Hey guys, I have a constant green light on the front of my VU+ Uno which has only recently came on. If I reboot the box it went away but now if I reboot it just stays on all the time.

Has anyone any idea what this means, is it to do with the remote or something? Has me a bit baffled, just hope my box isn't on it's way out or something.

    Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. The HMA has been flawless so far. I just use it when needed but waiting on my Draytek VDSL Router coming to replace the actually not too bad Openreach VDSL router and had already changed my Home Hub for a Netgear as the BT Hub's wireless was really crap with drop outs all the time. So with the Draytek I will have the added benefits of everything in one box plus the VPN stuff and server through USB so I can contain the files I use for work on a linked HDD that and will be separate from the rest of my system. I can also run the VU+ through the VPN for incoming traffic as well so it will be more secure although I set up my devices already to connect to it through VPN but will try alternate routes and see if there is any improvements:)

Managed to open account with Overplay but every time I tried to make a payment it wouldn't accept so ended up giving up after the girl on live support left me on hold for about 10 mins.
So in the end I went for HMA (Hide My A**) on special for £51 odds for 12 months, getting a good solid connection and speed is between 12mb-27mb on UK server and between 5mb-16mb into the US on OpenVPN and getting my full 37mb on UK server and speed is more or less the same into the US on PPTP so this will suit me dead on, also connecting any mobile devices without any problem through their PPTP Servers so I can't really ask for better, hell of a lot better than the one I was on anyway and I can now tunnel my VU+ stream a bit more securely onto any laptop and tablet etc:)

Can anyone recommend a good VPN Server. I just use it to by-pass US restricted material and the server I'm on at the minute (Mullvad) the speed is really slow lately. My connection is normally 37mb and through this server I'm lucky to get 4mb. Time for someone new at a have decent price!
