Constant green light front panel

  • Hey guys, I have a constant green light on the front of my VU+ Uno which has only recently came on. If I reboot the box it went away but now if I reboot it just stays on all the time.

Has anyone any idea what this means, is it to do with the remote or something? Has me a bit baffled, just hope my box isn't on it's way out or something.

    Cheers

  • reflash with your backup and see what happens..
otherwise ,after copying all your personal configs, flash with another image..
after that still green? could be anything..there are so many different experiences
¿ is it still under guarantee ? contact the seller

  • Thanks for the reply mate.

Is it ok to use my personal backup on a later image?
I'm currently on Black Hole 2.0.3 and was thinking of changing it to the latest one, would this be ok. It's just I've never done it that way as I've always started from fresh but it's a lot of hassle getting it back to the way I wanted.

I tried putting in my backup and the same thing was happening so I put in Blackhole ver 2.1.3 and everything worked fine but when I changed to a different satellite I had no sound until I hit to a different channel up or down and then the sound came on again. This was really annoying so I've now went back to my own backup and green light is back. I've updated Cool EPG and the likes and no difference. One thing I've notice when the light starting showing was my time was 36 mins later than the actual time which screws up my EPG listing so I'm thinking this might have something to do with the green light as the box doesn't seem to be correcting the time off any transponders until I move to say 19.2E and back, then it corrects itself. Very strange!

I'm gonna try one of the Blackhole backups and see how that goes and will let you know.

  • well as you say it is a bit of a hassle to start from scratch again but....
as You say thats what you should really do...
think of the fun side of it again : having to search and start with everything up to date..

  • I'm just going to put a fresh copy of 2.0.3 in as this seems to be the most stable for me and go from there instead of putting my personal backup in as this seems to be where part of the problem is. I'll let you know how I get on:)

  • Well I put the old 2.0.3 back in from fresh and added my plugins and other stuff without using the personal backup and worked fine for an hour or so until it updated the wrong time and then the green light came back on. So I think this light has something to do with the time or Cross EPG or something. If I reboot the receiver the time corrects itself and no green light then after an hour or so the time jumps like 1h 35mins ahead for no apparent reason and it ends up throwing my EPG listing out of wack and then have to restart the box. It won't correct on a "restart enigma 2" as it has to be a full restart. Getting really fed up with it now and might have to try Vix or something as the latest BH image has muted sound when I switch Sats as explained:(

At a bit of a loss now.

  • I've flashed the box to the latest version and put everything in from scratch and it worked for a few hours and then the green light came back on and the time shifted again to nearly 2 hours ahead. I can't work this out at all, I have my box set for GMT and when I restart the time comes back to normal but green light remains on and eventually the time changes again. I'm just wondering is there any kind of battery inside these receivers for some sort of back up regarding any settings?

It has me baffled and my only conclusion is that the receiver is faulty.

  • Can you try another image other than Blackhole? If it does the same thing with ViX installed for example then you will deffo know it is a hardware issue.......

Or even try the original Vu image itself...... available here: Vu+ Update

  • I've stuck in the OpenVix Apollo with the groovy Blue HD (Sly) skin and really like the look and feel of this one. It's also taking me a while to get used to the new lay out and having to use different buttons for different functions as well as working out where to put my Nlines and mg config files via FTP. Anyway, so far so good but I'll know better overnight although I did notice that I now have a choice to update the time via transponder or from the internet so I can try the NTP if the transponder doesn't keep up to date.

I will let ya know what's happening anyway, no green light so far. To be honest I can live with the green light but have issues with the time being out of wack as this just screws up my channel list and turns my receiver into an old Openbox by having to select the channel to see what on at the present time.

Got up this morning and green light back on and the time was 35 mins ahead, bit of a bummer. Seems there is a hardware fault somewhere. I guess I'll just have to restart the box each time it does it and maybe buy a new box sometime in the future. Good excuse for an upgrade anyway:)
