Well, I've got good news. Following my support ticket to World of Satellite I received my replacement remote control yesterday!

I had to go and collect it from the post office. For some reason the postman did not deliver it to my address. Exactly the same model remote SF RCU 04 that they sent out from their warehouse. Very surprised to receive it so quickly.

The new remote control is working perfect! I noticed that the buttons are a little more stiffer and tighter. This suggests that the rubber is perhaps more durable. There's a silver warranty sticker from the back of this remote, which my original did not come with.

The original one from the very beginning seemed like the buttons were looser than normal.

I found it a little strange that in their website it is out of stock and doesn't appear to have the SF RCU 04. They have only the SF8008 that shows as out of stock. But anyway, let's see and hope that this new one will last longer!

I have tried cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol both inside and the button. Of-course I did not dissemble the remote, this is too risky.

The problem is that the glue would simply not stick! It is ironic but even after trying to glue the foil with hot glue gun the glue will still naturally peel off from the bottom of the button without even damaging the button in any shape or form!

It is like a repelling magnet or an egg pouch in a pan that doesn't stick! It is remarkable.

I have identified the mechanism of this. These buttons are actually not glued together with the main board. I just spotted that around the circumference of the button there is a layer of rubber. It appears that the button was attached around this layer of rubber! So basically it floats in the air and makes contact when you press it like a trampoline.

But from pressing it many times the button got torn off from the entire edges of the rubber and that's the reason why this is impossible to fix!

I have a 12 year old Technomate TM5402 receiver and the remote control till date still works perfectly and has never done that! The technomate remote is simply of superior quality.

I have sent a Support Ticket to World of Satellite UK including this picture and my pdf email invoice receipt to see if they can help.

    Hello,

In June 2023 I bought the Octagon SF8008 receiver. Unfortunately, after 9 months of use 2 days ago the OK button from my remote control completely fell off.

As you can see the button popped out. It works when I press it but it falls out with each press and if I press from the side the button gets stuck.

Initially, I tried using adhesive glue. But the glue will not stick! I then tried to use the advice on the internet to use foil and cut it out in shape. But sadly, the foil will not stick with the rubber from the bottom. Even after hours of waiting it simply will not stick.

Has anyone experienced this problem? I bought this receiver from World of Satellite UK. Is there a special glue or way to stick it. The glue seems to peel off the remote control naturally and doesn't even leave a stain from the glue!

So after almost one month since I last posted, I have some news. I have partially solved the problem but not completely!

I bought an EasyAcc USB Fan Electronic Cooling Fans Quietly Cool 125mm DC 5V Computer Fan with 3 Adjustable from Amazon UK.

I then placed the fan on top of the receiver and when the temperatures dropped between 42-46 degrees celcius. The frequency of this pixelation stopped. I don't get it every 10-20 minutes like before. I could then watch some days full 5 hours in a row and no glitching in Viaplay Xtra HD.

But the other day the glitching returned again! This time I tested and after 45 minutes or at 4:12am and then 4:15am and 4:20am within the space of 8 minutes I had 3 glitches. First 2 glitches were pixelated lines, but the 3rd one had this same pink glitch for half a second.

I then switched back to the inbuilt TV tuner and noticed the inbuilt tuner also had the same glitches!! So, it is possible there is a fault with the channel itself. I emailed support but they haven't responded to my email.

But the problem is that yesterday when I watched WION HD (Free to Air) on Sky Astra 2G following its new transponder after 38 minutes there was again another pixelation during TV advertisement. However, instead of it being pink, it was translucent green. I checked the CPU temperature and it was 44 degrees celcius.

The difference is that it just doesn't happen 10-20 minutes with the new USB fan. So there's definitely temperature triggering this when above 60 degrees this causes pixelation more frequently.

Also with oscam/ncam when viewing channels like Eurosport 1/2 HD on Hotbird this pixelation will also occur when channels freeze and then unfreeze. That I understand it could be card share server being weak causing these pixelations. But with old Technomate TM5402 these pixelations would not occur.

Also on Hotbird when quick zapping from one channel to another also sometimes causes pixelation for 1 second after switching but then normalizes after. But other occasions this will not happen.
Also on Hotbird there are VOD channels https://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?question=VOD There are massive pixelations throughout the screen at all times when viewing VOD 202 to 208 and they are even Free to Air, not sure if this is problem with the channels themselves or the receiver. Signal will show 90+%!

    Hello all,

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this problem.

Just over a month ago I bought the OCTAGON SF8008 S2X TWIN 4K UHD 2x DVB-S2X from World of Satellite UK as I'm from London.

Every 10-20 minutes approximately, half of the screen will be covered with this pixelation!

As you can imagine this is particularly distressing and has been persisting for the last 1 month since buying the Octagon SF8008 4K 2X DVBS2X receiver.

At first I thought this is a problem only with OSCAM and NCAM channels. But this is happening even in Free to Air channels like ViaPlay Xtra and BBC News HD on Astra 28.2 Degrees and DW English HD Hotbird 13 Degree East!

The problem is that this appears to not be related to signal as I'm receiving 100% SNR and 100% AGC.

Only around 10 days in the middle of last month the problem was not present but then it manifested itself again 2 weeks ago. I first thought that this is a broadcast problem that was resolved but it returned again. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that for over a month a problem like this can persist without Viaplay actually fixing the broadcast defect. The fact it is happening in BBC News HD and DW English HD suggests that there is fault somewhere.

Not to mention that I also experience sometimes all of a sudden stuttering, but in this particular channel (Viaplay Xtra). After a few minutes it becomes smooth again only for it to go back to stuttering mode once again. When I change the channel and return back then the problem disappears and will be smooth again for hours.

I changed HDMI cable with the one supplied with the Octagon receiver but this doesn't solve the problem. I also lowered the 4K resolution setting down to 1080P from the Openvix settings but that has not made a difference at all.

As I am more than 30 days I won't be able to return the receiver for a refund. Anyone knows what's going on? I also unplugged the Ethernet LAN cable to rule out OSCAM/NCAM as the culprits. Though, not sure if they have to be disabled as well. I do note that the processor does overheat and become 71-78 degrees celcius, not sure if this has anything to do with this as this receiver doesn't seem to have an inbuilt fan.

I previously used the Technomate TM5402 receiver for 12 years without problems! I'm willing to test the old receiver again just as an experiment.

There isn't a day without seeing any of these glitches. Also I don't understand why Viaplay Xtra has this problem but not the other channels under the same transponder like Talk TV HD and QUEST HD. They seem to be fine.

Hey, I'm glad it is working for you. However, I started lately noticing problems with this Ncam and I wouldn't be surprised that ncam is faulty.

All of a sudden the channels will stop decrypting but the server will display as Connected!

It will show CONNECTED with the cards number in http://192.168.1.127:83/status.html

Yet it will not unscramble anything and even the other server will also stop working despite both being shown as connected as well! Even after waiting for a full hour watching other free to air channels it will not resolve on its own.

The only way it starts working again is if I reboot the receiver! If I simply restart Ncam it will not make a difference. I'm not sure if there is a fault with the receiver or with the Ncam protocol. Because I'm pretty sure the servers are not down as every time rebooting the receiver resolves the issue!

But also, coincidentally I'm starting to notice this behaviour since last week when my BT Smart Hub 2 router got a firmware update

Firmware updated: 27-Jun-2023. The same day 4 hours later I started noticing it, the server will even show in the Info but the picture will remain blank! This happened after 3 hours of watching TV. Everything was fine and out of no where it stopped working while everything shown as connected.

Perhaps I need to test if other protocols are producing the same behaviour. But I can say this is not normal behaviour. Not sure if you are also experiencing this. Also when trying free server trials like dream4ever I cannot disconnect the server by pressing the green Disable power button in the Ncam Readers tab to disable them. It will still remain connected unless I delete them. This is happening with that server only. Others are fine.

Anyway, I need to observe for this problem, because it is causing me some headaches and worries right now.

After hours of troubleshooting, I finally got it working! :D Indeed, it was my bad. I kept trying the old school method of activating CCcam from the menu/settings screen not realizing that this was not going to lead me anywhere! It was such a big torture!

I then found out a tutorial, which was obviously my last ditch attempt before giving up!
I installed Winscp on my PC. Had difficulty logging in it as it would show "access denied" with an empty password. I had to create a password on the receiver with a 0000 and then it allowed me to finally get through.

I also tried initially to insert the ncam.server file outside the /etc/tuxbox/config. This is a mistake!!! The tutorial that I read with the screenshot on step 2 was misguiding as the file was not meant to be outside. That's why it was never connecting.

It has to be inserted inside the ncam plugin folder! Also the CCcam line must be converted to ncam and then inserted inside the ncam.server file! Then it finally worked! After that I simply went to 192.168.1.127 a link that lead me to the ncam address page. From there I could now normally enter new lines.

I then made a second test with oscam and in the same way converted CCcam line to an oscam line and then inserted the file in the Oscam plugin folder.

I was on the verge of giving up and returning the receiver back, which would've been sad! That was quite a lot of depressive troubleshooting! I'm glad I didn't give up. But for most layman this is going to be an impossible task. I don't think even a satellite shop was going to help me with this and even if they did, they would've charged me a hefty price!

    Dear all,

I bought the OCTAGON SF8008 from World of Satellites UK a few days ago. For example, I'm trying to enter C: hostname 14582 user pass

In the old Technomate TM 5402 receiver I am successfully installing without any problems whatsoever! Unfortunately, when the same details are entered in this OCTAGON SF8008 receiver, it will simply not connect. In fact it will crash and restart using Openvix.

I installed the openvix-6.3.007.release-sf8008_mmc and the CCcam from the Softcam manager. Unfortunately, whatever I do I cannot input the details inside the receiver. This is happening with Openvix and Openatv. I am met with the following 2 screenshots.

    9kIGLfzl.jpg
This is then followed by something like this. lYPZCCil.png

These are screenshots I captured from my browser. Obviously what I am trying to do is input from the settings. But none of these works.
The plugins appear to be CCcam 2.3.8 and 2.3.9 and there's also one that is only CCcam. Either of these and it fails to let me input any of those details.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? I never ever had these problems with old TM 5402, but of-course that receiver is simple and isn't an enigma2 receiver. This is the first time I am using an Enigma 2 Linux receiver.

I'm on the verge of returning it for a full refund, if I can't find a solution to this problem!

Any help will be greatly appreciated, so much that I am even happy to donate, that's how frustrated I am right now!
