You don't need to flash a different image. Just flash PLI again, although latest one is 7.3. There are two types you can download. Use the Recovery version.
Keep things simple when fault finding.thank you

Yes, make a backup first, just in case you want to use it again. Save your cam config files if you have not got them saved already.
Start with a clean image,
Configure tuners.
Don't add any "bling" like skins, "builds" etc.
Install a channel list from the plugin server of image, do not use your old channel list.
Test if motor moves.
If everything is OK, we know something was wrong with image
If you still have an issue with motor, then you will have to get it checked.
I have used OpenPli Images for ages what image is even more user friendly than them ?

Zgemma H9 Twin not moving motor

QuoteIf you have a motor, a small problem has been fixed by PurE2 code...
I do not have a motor but... A small bug in drivers has been fixed by PurE2 code. To activate the code and get the signal, these are the steps to follow...
1) Tuner config > Simple > Mode > Positioner > Use Power Measurement > YES (So, not DiSEqC but "Positioner"...)
or
2) Mode > Positioner (selecting satellites)... Now, one chooses satellites one can have and then > SAVE, which shows up as USALS, as one gets out (possibly by using EXIT button).
3) After that, one goes to > Positioner setup > (...) Etc. etc. Who knows more, please fill in the gaps... I haven't dealt with a motor in a long time...Also, you have not responded to my Qs...
But OK....
I trying to see if its firmware problem or dish

The reset positions does not seem to work with Enigma2 receivers on some motors. It works with receivers like TM 5402/1000. Nobody's looked at it as not easy to get into a failure state.
I got lost in the multi-quote posts and don't really know what problem is at the moment. Some of the general rules of fault finding are:
1. Do one thing at a time to avoid complications
2. Make backups before you try things
3. Look at last thing that changed before problem occurred.
4. Answer questions asked by knowledgable/experienced people and do not cloud issue with other details
As I understand it, the last thing that changed to cause the problem was the satellites.xml. I would flash a new image and start again without restoring previous settings. If the motor has been touched, then we are at at two variables.
One other question. Which motor controls system is in use? USALS (where you just enter co-ordinates) or Diseqc (where positions one by one)
Yes I do apologize,
On the day the fault occurred about an hour before I had been editing channels using what I have always used which is DreamSet version 2.4.13.0 then I remember changing channels from one sat to the other then i was trying to tune in a channel that i did`nt have and noticed that it wasnt tuning in so tried 8PK and other option for tuning and it didnt find channel i was looking for so went to move dish again and thats when i noticed dish was stuck on one position.
After that i got ladder and tried manual buttons on motor itself but nothing moved just a single click noise from when i tried pressing manual buttons.
then I downloaded Filezilla and deleted old satellites.xml file in folder i was told on this thread and then transferred new satellite.xml file that i downloaded yesterday and still nothing moved then you mentioned about about deleting satellites.xml if it was in the folder you mentioned and all of a sudden i could then manually tune channels from different satellites positions. Dish moved from 13 east t 28.2 and tuned in channels then 192. east and tuned channels then moved it 16 east tuned channels left for a while watched free channels on 16 east then thought as everything was ok would try another satellite position and realized dish would not move anymore again except this time all I had left that i could view was on 16 east nothing else .
Next thing to try you recommend Flashing a new image onto my Zgemma ?
Should i make a back up first or not ?
The Motor controls I have always used are Usals entering my Latitude and Longtitude
Sorry for waffling on lol
Thanks Again in advance

IMO you have a motor problem, but that is a guess from hundreds of miles away. Like i said before it could be Motor, cable, LNB or firmware.
If it was me i would start with firmware, then check LNB, Cable and last the motor.
But we are going round in circles now !!
I replaced lnb and cable just under a year ago after 20 odd years lol
will try your link you posted about flashing zgemma back up etc , if i get stuck for some reason can i contact you here or should i start a new post ?
just waiting to hear back from abu baniaz, was after what he said then it worked just picking both your brains for your superior knowledge for its been a while but really do appreciate all your support
thank you

Hello again buddy, if i buy new motor i wouldnt have to change any setting or firmware etc ??
No, but a new motor will not fix a problem with firmware.
are i see ok i got you now, shall i take the plunge lol
-
You need to replace the satellites.xml file.
Which image are you using? It might be possible for you to do it using remote.
Sorry to bother you again, but as you can see from last night now i am stuck on 16 east from when i was manually re tuning each satellites i had done 13 east 19.2 east 28.2 east then just did 16 east and now thats all i can get a signal from motor not moving at all again.
I went into Filezilla to see if anything was in /etc/enigma ie satellite.xml file and i wasnt so today i went to satellite.xml site and downloaded todays lists of sats delted yesterdays list with filezilla and put in todays and still stuck on 16 east, very confusing. Is there anyway i can tune in 13 east and just keep that until and if i have to buy new sat motor ? Thanks in advance Carmine.

firmware is easy mate, backup what you have, then you can always go back to it.
Flash a new image, then start over. That at least eliminates one problem and costs nothing but time.
as its been a while i am not very confident in doing this
is there anyway i can get just 13 east for now or as i think its motor would just have to get new motor ?
-
could be the motor, lnb, cable or something with the firmware.
lnb and cable were replaced just under a year ago.
Im guessing motor or firmware,
dont really want to change images as in the past i have found gives me more problems and again before this problem if it aint broke dont fix it lol
even if i could just get 13 east until i have to change motor if need be ??
-
please now backup your image, when it goes wrong re flash with your backup.....
Far easier than using a ladder
HoldFire , have been manually scanning all satellites managed to get 28.2 east got 13 east was trying 192. east then left it too scan 16 east it got free channels etc checked they were visible then went to try amd tune into another satellite and i cant get anything except for 16 east now what the hell is going on all very strange anyone else has this problem ?
-
and reboot and try to see if it works ?
Yes it works
Thank you so much for your and abu baniaz help top guys thanks again

Just want to say I went into /etc/enigma2 and there was a satellites
Your problem started after you changed "software". Don't complicate things by going on the ladder and touching "hardware".
To which location did you send the xml file on your box?
/etc/enigma2
/etc/tuxbox/
both
/etc/tuxbox/
You were spot on once i deleted that file in /etc/enigma2 motor is working again thank you soo much for your help your a star !!!!
Double check you have not got one in etc/enigma2 too. If you do, delete it and then restart the box

I said I thought it was when i was using Dreamset but not a hundred percent sure, also i am sure i was able to change sat positions after i edited channel list but like i said im afraid not 100% sure

I installed whole new cable and lnb just over a year ago
Yes on 13 east getting signal and watching free to air Rai1 with just over 75% signal
Yes was hoping the new sat.xml and a reboot would have solved your issue, now not sure what has happened
It must have been something you did with your channel list, so the only option now is to start again.
This is why i have been asking if you had an image backup, then it would have just been a reflash of the backup and away you go.
best to check your tuner configs for your motor
See if you are able to drive the motor east and west manually and it in fact moves
Try installing a channel list from the plugin download section, see if that helps
Failing that you may have to reflash a clean image and start from fresh.
I had the ladder out first thing this morning but because I saw green and red light flashing i thought all was okay but just got off the ladder and it doesnt move from 13 east hot bird, its a Alsat Dark Motor and has two buttons to move it manually so tried east and west and just get click noise when i try to move manually also have manual and incase of needing to reset it says to hold both buttons down and nothing so im guessing motor is Broken what do you think ?
Yes i have that motor myself, i have never had the manual button on it not work, and you have already tried resetting it.... looks like it could be broken, but that said it could also be a cable or lnb issue.....
Try with the lnb disconnected and if possible another cable feed from the receiver to the motor just to rule that out before buying a new one.....
I have had 2 dark motor's and a Technomate motor on my 80cm dish in about 7 years......They dont seem to last long TBH....
Just checked my dark motor it also has a flashing red and green light. ?
Out of interest are you getting signal on 13east ?
