Well after xmas decided to get to grips with this rougue box of mine. After having no luck with the usb port and flashing. Attempting various upgrade software via the rs232 port and even trying the x lan tool from the manufacturers website, all to no evail!!

Days later and out of shear desperation I took the box to bits, removed the card reader and removed the tiny pcb that the usb socket is mounted on, and there was the problem!! a couple of dry joints on the usb pcb!!

I managed to find an old usb femail lead, stripped back the connectors and put a pcb connector on the other end, plugged it in and all of a sudden the box recognises the usb port. Back in buisness!!!

I think one to watch out for! It doesnt look like a clone, just poor materials generally on the usb socket where it attaches to its own tiny usb pcb.

    Hi

I have the open box x3 and have been unable to upgrade via USB ( it is definitely not the USB drive as they work fine in other x3 boxes).

I have tried to flash by serial cable and although the open box repair tool( old s10 s11 version recognises the box) it keeps coming back with an error when I click to upgrade. I have varied the timing between clicking next and switch china on the box but its always the same outcome.

Could someone please confirm what firmware and tool I should be using to do this.

    Cheers

cheers for that, i had considered that, but i am concerned that will overite my other channel lists and saved favorites for other sats. Ive just loaded a known good TP from lyngsat and still cant get a signal on hisp. It mite be time to get the ladder out! but it seems strange the East side of the ark have all dropped in ok? Ive made sure i have the lnb set to universal as it is for other sats but cant get signal out of hispasat. Seems a bit strange that hispasat doesnt seem to be set in there on any of the firmeware releases for openbox.

Hi m8 Ive done that, but not having any transponders in there it is hard to see if I have the dish set quite right as its not showing a signal. Currently I have my dish set to pickup 28.2e,19.2e, 13e, 1w, so Im guessing that if that is correct it should manually drive round and pick up 30w. Perhaps if I find a known working TP and input that manually in the list, then drive it round until it picks up the signal (strength and quality), then do a blind scan?

    Hi guys

I have an openbox s10. I looked to select hispasat 30w from the satelite list but it wasnt there, so I added it manually however the transponder section says "No TP". DO I have to manually add every single transponder I need or is there a way of scanning or loading them as a file in some way?

    cheers

Hi, i want to add 30W to my openbox sat list. It wasnt in the satellite list in the menu i have though managed to enter it and store it manually, however there are no transponders listed, hence i cant find the satellite by moving my dish around as it doesnt show a signal.

Do I have to manually add transponders, or is there an easy way of doing this?

Hi Chaps, Im fairly new around here and dont want to break any rules or upset anyone by discussing other forums in detail, Im trying to find out if a certain forum ***matics or U*S is down currently i have a mate who has a pay server sub through a link on there and he says they are down. Just wondered if there was anything going on there.

Hi Chaps, please go easy Im pretty new to all this though I have I think come a fair way in just a very short time.

The story so far........................................................ had enough of cable, 1 week later Got myself an openbox s10, read up, flashed it, forked out £27 for a 3month cline, put it into a cccam config file loaded to my openbox and opened 28.2 with an existing sly dish and pretty well chuffed with myself!

Got a large box with an 80cm motorised dish sat in the hall which is tomorrows project!!!!

Now Im thinking after a good read that it appears CCcam is off down the pan according to a few opinions around here (just my luck!!!) and oscam is the way to go?

Does this mean I have an even steaper learning curve on the horison? can I use oscam for my openbox s10? and if yes how the hell do I go about installing oscam to my box, (usb pen drive or windows installation and connect box to pc ?) editing files and loading them etc......

Think Ive done well so far and Im not asking to be spoon fed, but all im really interested in is watching, im not trying to share really just learning the ropes for now, any help in laymans terms would be very well accepted.

    regards
