    There are already a few guides (threads) with information. If you have specific questions, you can ask in those threads, or better yet start a new thread with details about what you have done and what specifically you need help with.

    "Seniors" are usually happy to help "newbies" learn, but don't always have time to make super detailed instructions. Also, the more effort you put into describing your problem, the more effort people will put into helping... Here is a good example: http://linuxsat-support.com/showthread.php?t=94386&p=303280&viewfull=1#post303280

    Although it is possible, I highly doubt the box or LNB is at fault. It is possible (and very likely) that you are tweaking the dish to align to one sat, but the motor is not in the correct alignment for ALL sats. The tweaks are just making another alignment error to compensate for the motor alignment problem. (Sometimes two wrongs can make a right...) That is why it is important to try a sat as close to due south as possible. I also think you should use USALS - at least to get the initial alignment done.

    I have created a static mirror and it`s currently hosted on our server..

    Who else do we need to speak with to offer our help with hosting etc ?

    New mirror is available from the NavBar or here -> Oscam Wiki

    Sorry, was out all afternoon. I am not sure whom to contact. I only saw some people were talking about it. Probably best if an admin here contacted their admin...

    As many already know, the oscam development website (www.streamboard.tv) has gone down a few times in the last few months. There is talk on their board about 1. adding help files to the webif and 2. creating a mirror of their wiki pages. I know there is a link here to their wiki, but maybe it would be a good idea to create a static mirror of their wiki here?? And maybe offer them to host the mirror and let them include it as a mirror option in the oscam webif??

    Here is a link to the discussion on streamboard (have to have an account...) : http://www.streamboard.tv/wbb2…?postid=553761#post553761

    In theory, the only differences is the number of outputs. But in reality LNBs are not exact devices. I recently replaced a single black ultra with a twin black ultra and the twin is roughly about 10% better than the single for fringe transponders and slightly better signal for strong transponders. When researching LNBs before my purchase, I recall a few guys reporting that their quad LNB was much better than the same manufacturer's single LNB. I also read that manufacturers are more picky with specs for twin/quad LNBs since people buying them are usually more discerning than the single LB users - but I have no idea if that is really true or not... If you read online people who post tests, you will see lots of conflicting information - and a large part of that is due to manufacturing inconsistencies. Also, LNBs to not perform the same across all frequencies, so it is possible after changing LNBs that some frequencies improve and some get worse. I have also read that manufacturers make an LNB, test it and then decide what case/label to put on it. Bottom line is, from my experience and research, there is a good chance that you see at least a slight improvement but it is in no way guaranteed. Of course if you are thinking at all about adding another receiver/tuner, then it is a no brainer to give the quad a try...

    BTW - I looked at my internet history to see if I could find any of the reports I read and it was too long ago, but a google search should help you find some reports.

    Am I the only one with this problem, or it just doesn't bother anyone else??

    Also, I noticed with this theme, the top image always gets sized a little wider than the window, so a bottom scroll-bar always appears. This does not happen on Linuxsat Black.

    I have the same results on xp, win7 and linux with chrome, explorer and firefox...

    Yes, Spark One has the same cpu as triplex, alien2 etc. (STi7162) So most firmware should work.

    Look here for help with images: Spark - SH4 Firmware / Image Flashing Tutorials, HowTo & Guides

    And in both Golden Media and Alien2 sections are images.

    By "out of the box" do you mean bare images from developers or backup images with all settings already configured? Both are there.

    Do you need channel editor for Spark or Enigma?

    Ok, like cazuela wrote, when you enter in sat setup you should use xx.xxx north and x.xxx west.

    Also probably best to edit the post and remove the real numbers for privacy/security...

    Those coordinates do not look right for South Wales, they are near London...

    With the motor reset on zero (reset button on motor or goto 0 from receiver), the pole, motor pole and dish should be in a straight line pointing due south - with the dish perfectly perpendicular (parallel to east-west)

    Thanks for the detailed notes, it is more than most people post.

    A few quick notes.

    1 - I don't see any stream connections being made in the log...

    2 - your steps 4/5 - don't change the ip address, just the port (17999) The IP address only needs to be changed in the bouquet (although some people have reported it working better using the real IP address than using 127.0.0.1, so you can try both in the bouquet...)

    3 - you do not need any [reader] sections in oscam.server for powervu (although those sections are not interfering with powervu, so not the problem.)

    4 - some people report that using pmt_mode = 4 or 6 works better when there is no ecm in the stream.

    5 - your step 7 - I don't see the stream relay delay in oscam.conf. So it is using the default, unless you change in the oscam webif.

    Code
    [streamrelay]
    stream_ecm_delay              = 700

    When there is no ecm in the stream, this value is very important and usually needs to be played with. When you change the value through the oscam webif, the change should take affect immediately...

    6 - from the log it appears the keys are probably ok, but sometimes it can be a false positive.

    Are you able to stream fta channels to your pc with vlc? Can you stream encrypted channels (other than powervu?)

    Also, I am not sure about openvix - I know people have it working with openatv 5 and openpli.

    Can a mod fix the first post? All the wget http links were "modded" and are now unreadable... They should be:

    Code
    wget -O /dev/null -q hxxp://127.0.0.1/web/powerstate?newstate=X
    where X =
    0 = Toogle Standby
    1 = Deepstandby
    2 = Reboot
    3 = Restart Enigma2
    4 = Wakeup form Standby
    5 = Standby

    and

    Code
    wget -qO - hxxp://127.0.0.1/web/servicelistreload?mode=X
    where X =
    0, reloading lamedb and Userbouquets
    1, reloading lamedb only
    2, reloading Userbouquets only

    Sorry, I looked at your location and 4w may not be strong enough, but 5w should give you a good signal. The reason to test closest to due south is that as the motor turns, any errors in alignment get more exaggerated the further from due south you go. Because as it turns, it also changes the elevation so you not only end up with east-west misalignment, you also have elevation problems.

    you can test the box with the meter in place, signal will just be a tiny bit less. If your motor is not facing due south, all sats will be untuneable. Make sur motor is due south, us usals to select 4W (motor should barely move) an you should pick up something with signal meter. Adjust for strongest signal (loudest tone) then try tu tune box to some transponder on 4w (look at lyngsat.com for hints)

    Note: This is not a temporary change as you are overwriting files on the internal flash (step 7.) Also note, in case it is not obvious, that by changing partitions and formatting the drive, you will loose anything that was there...

    Maybe you should add how to backup original files and a way to go back to normal booting from flash...
