    I have a limited budget at the mo and I am really not too good with heights. Is there any thing I can do that would not mean I have to climb on to the roof(besides pay someone else to)?

  • Sat feed to another room

    Hi all,


    Currently I have a sat dish feed to my living room. I would however, like to set up another box in my spare room (aka mancave). I purchased a small 2 way splitter from a local electronic shop, hoping that I could just split the feed that comes into the living room and supply one box in the living room and the other in the spare room. It was soon apparent to me that this would not work :( Due to my lack of sat knowledge I am somewhat at a dead end now as to what options are open to me in order to achieve my wish. Please can someone inform me what is the best thing to do. It would be very much appreciated.

  • Solo2 Recording problems

    Hi all,


    I have had my solo2 for a while now, and most things seem to be stable with it and when it isn't, it is not usually anything to do with the box. However, I have always had problems with recording programmes. The solo2 box is set to record some programmes on a daily basis and most of e time it would do this (most of the time), but recently, it does not record even though it is set to do so in the Timer editor menu. Also, if I look on the EPG I can see that the programmes for record are highlighted red, indicating that all is in order.


    So my setup is:
    Solo2 box
    Blackhole vers 2.0.1
    External HDD Seagate(Dsektop) 500GB.


    I hope I have given enough info for one or some of you most helpful and knowledgeable fellow satellite hobbyists to help me out.

    Yeah, but this surely had nothing to do with the loss of my German channels. Scanned as mentioned above and all hunky dori :)

    So I managed to get the ITV channel back (thanks), however, my German channels are still the same and there is no problem at the end of the source. Of course, it could be that I am not updating them properly as I am admittedly still a novice at this.

    So this is my setup:


    VU+ solo2
    Running BH 2.0.1
    Using an interface downloaded from this great site.


    So, all oth channels seem to be working. When I press on channel three (this used to show ITV HD Central West), I only see a black screen, the SNR on the info bar reads 0%. I have not changed anything, therfore, I am left quite confused that there has been no frequency change.


    Missed you reply Gaz before posing this.
    I will give a rescan a go and hope that I do not mess things up further, not the most experienced with the digi sat stuff, but no doubt on my way :) cheers.

    Hi all, Up until 2 days ago I was able to view the itv hd channel and paid for channels on German sly. I can no longer get these channels on my Vu plus box, even after restaring the box several times, and my head is spinning :) All other UK channels on my list appear to be working ( I was watching an episode on TZ before this, maybe, just maybe ;)). I hope someone can shine some light on this for me.

  • Timer problems

    Unfortunately I only have one tuner hooked up (from the sound of it this is the problem) as I am too scared to go up on the roof and too skint to get an engineer to hook up the other.


    For me, the next program deos not have to follow on the same channel, but probably amounts to the same thing I guess.


    Well, it looks like the bottom for me is to put up or shut up :) I was hoping that maybe it was a software issue.

  • Timer problems

    Hi all,


    I am having probs with my timer. When I try to set it for 2 programmes that follow each other I get a clash warning, when I change the time on them manually I am forever missing the last minute of one and it drives me mad. Any ideas?


    Also, when I get a clash and I remove one of them to prevent the clash, I am then left with a disabled message every time I leave the epg??


    Is there an interface that is very much like the sly one?

    Well I got the German TV line (I hope I aint stepping over the line here) from a friend and as for the other, well, I didn't get from a friend.


    So, is the SNR the strength signal? If so, I guess the only way to sort it is to get up on the roof and adjust? I hate heights.

    I am currently residing in Germany and I have my sat dish setup with a diseqc switch to receive UK and German FTA channels. Recently I have acquired a UK line and one for German TV too. As you know I dl the backup image and inserted both lines into the .cfg file last night, but it appears that I can only get access at the moment to the UK channels. Do I need to make a separate .cfg file for them both, or shoud they both work in one .cfg file? The UK line is as N line and the German one is a C line.


    Also, I have noticed that on sone channels the SNR is less than 60, what does this mean, is it the signal strength?
