It is not recommended, even if there was enough room, to store EPG data in the internal flash, so yes, you really need to get at least a USB pen drive, or if you want to use the recording facility, a HDD - Most of us have a few flash drives lying around I would imagine!

You do have an external drive (USB, HDD) plugged in?

We have already now got measures in place to make it more difficult for fraudsters to operate, however whatever measures we put in place, the possibility of being ripped off always exists, as is the case for all buy/sell sites, and considering this is only a small section and not the main topic of the forum, the staff can't really be responsible for any act of dishonesty. Ultimately, any deal that is done is between the two parties i.e. the buyer and the seller, and that includes the risks involved.

hi i am uslus on take photo but you no i am genuin persone any help tkyou
I am sure you are a genuine person! - I am not sure why you can't take photos though, how hard is that????We are needing everyone to stick to these rules without exception. We have seen on several occasions that someone you think you can trust turns out to be the opposite:shtf: Forum staff have to follow these rules too, so VIPs are not exempt.

I take it you are referring to sly UK epg?
I know you are using ViX and are in the UK, so I think I am assuming right.
do the following;
Press Menu, then
Setup - System - EPG - Settingswhere it says "EPG location" - change this so it is not internal flash - should be a USB flash or HDD, or network drive.
Other options I change here is I set automatic refresh and Automatic save to yes and leave both at 24 hours. It seemed to help the issues I was having with EPG missing after a reboot. Leave them at first and see how yours get on. Leave the rest untouched, and press the green button to save.
Then you are still on the EPG selection, scroll down to "CrossEPG" - select "configure" - Download on tune leave as no, Scheduled download as once a day - at a time you prefer - 4am default is ok if you have no recordings etc at this time. Green to save.
While still on CrossEPG screen, scroll to "OpenTV providers" - and select "sly UK OpenTV (Astra2 on 28.2) - which is the third one down, - pressing ok on remote ensures there is a green tick next to this one, and press green to save. Then while still on the CrossEPG config screen, scroll down to "Download now" - and press ok, and wait until it is all complete. If it is downloading correctly you should see the splash screen, hear some quiet music and see a progress bar with lots of activity at the bottom. It returns to the previous channel you were watching and completes the process, so leave things until the bar disappears.

yep you may need to put the file in /var/volatile/tmp - I use different ftp client but /tmp doesn't work for me.

What image you using?

I am not sure if your peers would appreciate the fact you pasted their dns, ip address and port on the forum. This is sensitive information - and against forum rules for a reason
Quote<9> DO NOT post your email address, IP address, DNS address or any private data on the open forum, this is for your own safety.
I have had to delete the screenshot and amend the postA couple of things wrong here - It seems to me that you have got protocols mixed up in your reader accounts in oscam.server. You have entered the accounts as if they are CCcam protocol, however you have got protocol = newcamd - and if it is Clines your friends have given you, then they should be entered as protocol = CCcam. You probably would be better off placing your virtual cards (shares) in a different group from your local, so where you have group = 1 for your local, use group = 2 for your shares.
You have also set up 3 entries in your newcamd protocol part of your oscam.conf - corresponding to your local, and the shares, so at this point I am a bit confused as to what you are trying to acheicve here as you only have one account in oscam.user.
Do you have a server running on CCcam or is it just a client on your local receiver?

I was looking at these was put of by lack of firmware can u post a backup of your image thanks
Firstly - could you be so kind as to post an intro here - as per forum etiquette;
Introductions
Secondly, if you read this thread, then you will realise that this is basically a rebranded clone of the Vu+ Solo, which in itself is a contentious issue. It has already been said here that this particular receiver will work with Vu+ Solo images - so that will lead you to here
Vu+ Solo
Even though this receiver is not pretending to be a Vu+ Solo on the outside, on the inside it is, in order to be compatible with the same images as the Vu+ Solo.
Of course, we would recommend the Solo over this one, and you would not expect to get support from anyone associated with the ViX team if it is made clear that you are looking for help with this model, and don't be surprised if some of the images don't work as well as they might if it were an original Vu+ Solo. -
Depends on the CPU architecture - if it is based on x86, as your regular PC is, then it may run CCcam, however if it isn't - which is more probable, then you again would most probably be stuck with Oscam being the only option - and with that being the case, then it all points back to the Raspberry Pi as the best option considering the costs.
-
All that is needed is for the relevant port to be forwarded from the router to the server, and then you should be able to access using DNS and port.
It might be much simpler if you just use Teamviewer to access your friend's PC.
-
Try doing this;
Menu - Setup - System - User Interface - Settings - show second infobar
If it is on 'None' - then change it to something like 5 seconds. -
Use oscam services to define either the services you want each account in oscam.server to get, or alternatively reject. To create services, click the services tab in oscam webif - where it says "New Service" - create a name for the service, then click "add" then that will appear, and click on the pencil icon next to the new service - then add the CAID, Provid and srvid of each service you want to define. For more details of what to put here for particular providers and services, either ones you want to accept or ones you want to reject, then save. You can create lots of services in this way, and then once done, you can select in each account in oscam.server the service you want to use either positively or negatively depending on whether you want to choose ones to leave out, or ones to accept.
More info here;
http://linuxsat-support.com/os…uk-sid-assign-reject.html
and here;For info on what definitions you need for particular providers and services, then go here;
Above link you can also generate custom oscam.services files based on provider - but will need further editing for you do get what you want. -
there are a few options, Nettop PCs such as Acer Revo or netbooks could all run CCcam, or for a very low power option, take the plunge and get a Raspberry Pi - surprisingly easy to get a server up and running with one of these - but yes - Oscam only, but still does the job.

When you are downloading the EPG information with CrossEPG it may be (don't quote me on this!) completely replacing the EPG.dat file, therefore wiping existing EPG data. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
If you go to Setup - System - EPG - Settings - and change Automatic save to yes, then this might have an effect if my first statement is wrong, because it should then save the EPG data to the EPG.dat fileA possible solution if my first statement is correct - would be to set up a daily 5 minute timer event on a freeview channel soon after the nightly CrossEPG download, so the receiver should then grab the EPG.

There are some images that don't have the 'undetermined' option available in auto language selection. This is annoying, and I steer clear of these images, but not a major stress, just a bit annoying! If you leave "prefer audio stored by service" as no, then it won't default to what it was before and will select audio based on the audio language selection preferences, but on the other hand, if you leave it as yes, then you can select English manually on a particular channel and it will remember this choice (in theory anyway!). It is simple enough anyway to press the audio button and choose the preferred language, so it shouldn't really be causing you so much stress that you are reaching for the Valium!
In your audio language selection - there is no point selecting the same language option 3 times. Select English first, Undetermined second (if you have it) and original as the third - this is how I have mine.

datsrite are you using oscam alone, oscam/cccam or just cccam? As has been said there are plenty of pre made configs that will update your card - but it is just as easy to tweak existing configs. Might be an idea if you post your configs here (leaving out sensitive stuff like boxkeys/external port or ip addresses etc) so we can highlight what needs to be adjusted for it to work.
-
you should be able to update the entitlements without putting your card in the original receiver.
-
It is possible that the reader entry for the share is not how it should be. Post an example of how you set up your reader entries in oscam.server - hashing out dns and password details of course.

It has nothing what so ever to do with the ViX image and silly posts like yours are how unfounded, slanderous rumors get started, 1 channel is down because their site was recently hijacked forcing them to move the URL, the plugin still points to the old URL hence why it cant connect to any thing.
Think you are over reacting here. The reason he made the post is because he was having difficulties with a plugin after updating an image. Quite a normal reaction to put 2 and 2 together and sometimes come up with 5. Isn't the point of a forum to ask for help and advice? I think that is all that was being done, and because it has created a discussion, we all know what the real issue is, and that it was coincidental that the firmware was updated at the same time. No real need to fly off the handle:waaaht:The facts were already out before you put in your 2 pence worth.
