A headache in my opinion. If you do use it, keep it up do date, or it will become a headache. I would be interested to know what problems people have had by not using it that can be conclusively linked to not using it.

It isn't the receiver that gets you the sports and movies, and the sly UK - it is a valid subscription card.

explain more about your setup - do you have 2 separate feeds from at least a twin LNB from your dish? How have you got your receiver set up in tuner configuration?

if you are using winscp it is as simple as right clicking and changing permissions to 755 - you need to make sure the file you created has read/write permissions - without changing permissions it is working for me so you should be ok so long as it is read/write owner permissions (644)

so just create the file - set the path in the logs, and the size - reboot and if it works then don't worry about permissions.

It is all in the forum, you just need to look. We can't explain more than has already been explained - have a good read, take your time and if you don't understand anything then let us know what you don't understand. Obviously you need a server, and then you need to configure it.

yes you need to create the file -use winscp or similar to log in server - you can name it 'oscam.log' or whatever - change permissions to 755, and then in oscam.conf - change /dev/null to /locationoffile/nameoffile - then reboot - increase the size if needed (maxlogsize=1024 givew you 1mb file)
then if it happens again you have a log.

look in oscam.conf - will tell you the path of your logs and the size of your logs - if this is not set, there is no log saved - it the filesize is set to be too small then the logs may have been overwritten

Minimising the memory for graphics mine is set at 64 at present (if that's the right thing I'm looking at) , what does this need to be set at .. Thanks ... It's just the client number I'm thinking about , not sure weather to use this as a client only or a peer only system at the moment

a couple of ways you can change the memory split on raspberry pi

I have my GPU memory set at 16MB

you can do it by editing the config.txt file that is in /boot directory of the raspberry pi

    add the following line

    Code
    gpu_mem=16

you will probably see a similar line with a different number - just change the number and delete the # if there is one before the entry so it will work. Save and reboot.

another way is to use console (remote putty or direct on device)

    then type the command 'raspi-config'

there is a heading 'memory_split' - change memory split

select this and you can change it to 16mb and reboot.

silvolti you titled this thread "how to read"

maybe that is your problem - so here is it in big letters - just for your benefit.

POST AN INTRODUCTION POST BEFORE TAKING FURTHER PART IN THIS FORUM

posting fake paypal receipts to try to con a lottery ticket, and copying and pasting things already posted on existing threads on the same thread is not the best of starts, but now you are not heeding the rules, after being reminded of them.

    Introductions
    Rules

stop posting multiple posts on same issue
    stop posting thankyou posts
don't post links to files on external sites where the image has been deleted
don't post solutions on threads where the solution has already been found
read the relevent tutorials and use the search tool before asking questions

oh - and read the rules and post an intro before taking further part in the forum.

    thanks

remember with all channel lists you install you will usually get the full scan results for each satellite by pressing green for satellites rather than blue for favourites, and once a particular channel is highlighted from the list you can add it to a bouquet - option appears with a press of your menu button. If it is already in a channel list, try looking under HD channels - I remember some lists having them under a heading for 3D but hardly seems a point when there are so few. 3D is a fad that crops up every few years in whatever form is the latest, and so long as you have to wear glasses, I think it will always be a fad! - I have hardly used my 3D feature on my telly - but the highlight had to be the Queen's speech....:eng: lol

There is one 3D channel only on sly UK - guess what it is called - yes - sly 3D !!! - occasionally you will get BBC HD doing something in 3D - once in a blue moon. (I would imagine a blue moon looks good in 3D:sheep:) There are very few 3D channels out there even if you have a Motor Dish - best to start looking around the net for downloadable stuff...

Just want to point out that we do not condone any form of cardsharing. What I will say is that paying someone to connect to their cardsharing server is something that is worryingly becoming the usual way to receive channels that you should be paying the provider for. They will not put up with it for much longer, and some providers as already pointed out, have countermeasured this already. Also, the increase of people who are sharing one sub card with a dozen or so family and friends is something else that the providers will be getting concerned about. They are protecting their interests, and you can hardly blame them.

Cardsharing by enthusiasts with dishes capable of receiving multiple satellites (motorised etc) is more of a practical issue. Enthusiasts are limited financially and physically to have all the cards to unlock all the channels across all of the satellites they can receive. Enthusiasts don't watch a lot of television, they just want to know what is out there, so they form small groups of people with different cards (with the cost probably averaging that of a sly sub) and share with each other over the Internet. This type of cardsharing is of little or no concern to the providers because they will not fear any huge loss of profit or potential profit.

If you only have a sly UK dish pointing towards the sly UK satellites, then you would be better off thinking about a sly subscription, because before long it will be the only way you can get this service. If you have a motor dish or multi lnb setup, then you have a lot of cards to choose from, and if you do want to get more services, then there are a lot of hobbyists around that might be willing to share with you. As said before though - this isn't condoned and I am not encouraging it, but if you want to get all the channels you want, then at least you are paying a provider, as will your peers be, rather than the money going to a payserver who is ripping everyone off and has only one concern - his pocket...
