Have you tried setting it up as a cron job?

You should be able to set it up to run hourly/daily/weekly/monthly etc.

It is in menu-timers-cron timers in vix image.

I haven't tried myself so let us know how you get on

That's what I want to do but I'm not sure how to set up that command /etc/init.d/openvpn start - do i place it in some sort of notepad file and save it as .sh and then upload to the cron folder?

    Hi folks,

I have been setting up an old DM800HD clone receiver with a blackhole image. I managed to get OpenVPN working however it doesn't activate automatically. When I go to the menu and openvpn and hit activate i get the message "you have to activate openvpn before to start".

So next I tellnet to my box and run /etc/init.d/openvpn start - it says client failed > password serverp2p however if I then go back into my OpenVPN menu it says running. So I do a grep "IP address is" on the box and it shows up with the IP for Amsterdam - yes my VPN has connected. This is brilliant only downside is I have to do this everytime i reboot the box. Would love to know if there is a way to get this to do this from startup.

    Thanks

Well after more extensive testing on this box here's an update. I can say for sure setting the stream type to gstreamer (4097) is the issue with the box going to a black screen and having to do a full reboot. If I change the stream type to DVB it actually works pretty well for about 10 - 15 minutes. Then the channel will freeze and I will need to channel up or down or change channel to get it to recover. I have a MB premium twin on the same network and same provider i actually used the same account on both boxes (when i say used the same account on both boxes I mean at different times to rule out a provider issue). The premium twin works fine no issues. The micro hd freezes like i said and has to channel change to recover. Really frustrating as there is still over 50% memory available and 100mb of flash storage available. This is on the Vix night default skin ( have tried other skins same problem ). In my opinion there is a fault with a component within the box. Especially giving that I have spoken to another user of a Micro HD Hybrid who can run 1080p stream content without an issue.

An update - this is far worse on a channel change. So actually selecting a channel from channel list or up or down arrowing to another channel the box will just freeze. If I actually restart the box on the channel i want to watch and just leave it the FHD channel will play with no issues for over an hour (this was the length of time i tested). Then i changed the channel and straight away black screen box frozen reboot required.

Is it a memory problem. Obviously a FHD stream is going to be very memory hungry. Unless you got a good powerful box or a Mag your sat box probably doesn't have the memory or power to handle FHD streams.

Have you got cache flush installed and running. If so when it's beginning to curl over and die, cache flush should kick and clear as much memory as possible.

If you haven't got a top end box, make sure you have a swap file set up too and clear out any unnecessary plugins you don't use.

I once tried to get a swap file set up a couple of years ago. I never got it working properly (from memory) or at least I don't think i did. Is there any easy way to do this on the GUI. I already have a USB attached. Forgot all about cache flush as it's not needed on my main box but I will download that plugin also. Great shout.

I feel you could potentially be right in it being a memory issue. The only thing that makes me think otherwise is that I run the same IPTV service on a box with less memory and full hd works a treat. But maybe with this being a different box it operates in a different way.

    Hi,

I have a very strange issue with this box I'll explain all the steps taken so bare with me.

Brand new box flashed with OpenVIX latest. SD and HD(720) streams work fine no issues. Changing to a FHD channel (1080) it works for around 5-6 minutes then the channel freezes and screen goes black. Restart of GUI does not fix this a FULL restart is required. Happens every time.

So I tried OpenATV - same issue.

Brought it to another network (100mb per second) - same issue.

Really at a loss here surely this box should be capable of streaming 1080 content.

    Hi

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I am new to EChannelizer but it is a great bit of kit - can't believe I have went all this time without using it.

I have two boxes one in the front room, one kitchen. I copied the bouquet using echannelizer so my IPTV set up matches on both. Now in the kitchen if I go to the full IPTV list all the channels play fine. However If i go into the breakdown bouqets like UK Entertainment UK Sports on my IPTV list it comes up showing Service not found : sid not in pat. Any ideas why it's doing this? I have seen this on the sat channels before when the transponders changed but not on IPTV.

FYI It is def the IPTV channels I am trying to play it even say Stream beside the channel.

Oh and same channel list works in the front room.

    Thanks

Thanks I'll give it a go when I get home. It sounds slightly complicated. Will this mess anything up in the channel list or the stream or will it simply copy the correct reference?

    Hi,

Can you help me out with this please buddy?

How do I get the picons to match to the IPTV channel list? They work fine with the Sat lists (channel and preview picons) but not on the IPTV side of things. How do I match them up ?

    Thanks

Well just wanted to let know what the box I have is currently doing.

I have flashed with OpenATV - box appears to flash no problem but then on boot it shows openatv logo - light goes green, then it reboots and stuck in this cycle. I have tried openvix and other images and the same thing happens.

If i leave the box off for an hour or so and then power it back on then it looks as if its dead - then after 10 15 minutes the light will start flickering red. then it will go mostly solid red and flash every few seconds. then completely solid red - then it will try to boot and fail. then i can try to flash again with a USB. The fact that it takes ages to start from a cold start is a bit worrying.

Don't know what else to try - flash the bootloader? Don't see what this would do if I am able to flash the box but it just won't boot - any advice appreciated. If you think the box is dead then that's fine at least I wont be wasting my time on something that never is going to work.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I really need help as i am stumped.

I have a twin tuner and set up as tuner a: simple single 28.2

tuner b is set as equal to tuner a

When I record say SS1 and try to watch SS2 it is black - yet if i try and watch BBC1 it works (FTA) Why would this be? I thought one line would be fine for this purpose am I wrong?

    - - - Updated - - -

OK i have just changed from mgcamd to cccam and it works - i want to use mgcamd as it is more stable. Would my config file be incorrect?

Appreciate you getting back to me on this one it has helped me a lot - sort of thinking along the same lines i noticed the various images available and the support for it is far greater which is drawing me in to the solo se. One thing i was wondering about this and the lack of a mountable hdd is can you set up to record to NAS? Can you set up Picons, CrossEPG to point to the NAS as well or would this be better set up with external USB or e-sata in your opinion?

    Hi,

I have been looking at getting a single tuner hd sat receiver to upgrade from a terrible box I have at present. I. Am drawn towards the vu solo due to its quality in reviews etc. I am wary of buying a clone by mistake. I know you are probably not allowed to post links to sites here but can someone advise where best to pick one up. Have seen one on world of satellite but are they genuine for £ 155 and would you recommend this box? I have previously used an enigma 2 box and installed openpli. Your thoughts would be welcome .

    Thanks

    Hi,

Just wondering how you are now all getting on with your Amiko A3 boxes - i have been thinking over the last week whether or not to buy one. Want a single tuner sat receiver with ability for more. Was looking at the Vu+ solo also which is obviously a better sat receiver but with things moving on with IPTV, and boxes running android with ability to load addons such as XBMC i kind of wanted a little more than just a sat receiver. However first and foremost the sat receiver is most important and want to be able to use newcamd on box so just wondering if the issues subsided with the release of new firmware etc.?
