How To Set Up Your Profile — Avatar & Signature

Personalising your profile helps other members recognise you and is quick to do. Everything below is found under your username → Settings at the top right of the forum.

Set an Avatar

Go to Settings → Avatar. You can upload your own image or use a Gravatar linked to your email address. A square image works best — it is automatically resized to fit.

Add a Signature

Open Settings → Signature. Your signature appears beneath every post you make — many members list their receiver and image here so helpers have the key details at a glance. Please keep it a reasonable size and within the forum rules.

Complete Your Profile Details

Under Settings → General you can add information such as your location and interests. The more complete your profile, the easier it is for others to help with setup that varies by region.

Edit Your Profile Banner

You can also add a cover image at the top of your profile page. See the separate guide "How to change your user profile banner" for the steps.

Privacy & Notifications

  • Privacy — under Settings → Privacy you control who can see your details, view your online status, and contact you.
  • Notifications — under Settings → Notifications you choose what you are emailed or alerted about (replies, quotes, mentions and more).

Stay Secure

While you are in your settings, consider enabling Multi-Factor Authentication under Account Security for an extra layer of protection on your account.
