Purchasing a new receiver

Hi all,

I’m looking to purchase a new receiver. I’m new to this and was recommended the Vu+ Solo but I don’t want to buy a box that will be outdated soon.
I was hoping to spend around 200 and I’m looking for a dual tuner sat box. Preferably something that will be easy to maintain.
Any recommendations welcome.

Vu Solo is quite dated now bud.... And is only a single tuner so won't meet your spec. Have a look at the solo 2 instead, twin tuner and a rock solid receiver with loads of support.

Perfect thanks for the quick response,
I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't be asking this here but what firmware would you recommend to be pre-loaded?
After doing a fair bit of reading I'm assuming Blackhole?

If you are happy to record to an external HDD, have a look at this: http://linuxsat-support.com/showthread.php?t=99740 However, you will not get many "backup images" with things pre-loaded. The Solo 2 is the more popular receiver.

The image you choose will be a personal preference, they are all as good as each other, but you must try them yourself to find out which has the best layout / ease of use for you.. Black Hole image is not available on the GigaBlue..
