  • Hi

I have a Amiko Alien2+ and a USALS motor driving a 80cm dish all being ran using VIX4.

I bricked the VIX firmware and had to re-flash the box in order to get it to boot. I need a little help re-sorting the motor out. At the moment the dish is pointing at 28.2 as thats where it was when the boxed stopped working. I followed a guide from this forum http://linuxsat-support.com/showthread.php?t=314 but now i can't see any channels or even satellites from anywhere other than 28.2. I'm guessing the guide might be a little out of date now as i can't see any option to select additional satellites.

I have a twin lab and there seems to be power at the motor because i can get the LED to flash. I know the correct longitude etc for my location.

Any help would be greatly received as I'm now desperate.

  • Maybe best to start with simple simple "configuration mode" and "mode" set to positioner for first tuner. Then set second tuner to "Second cable of motorized LNB" for "configuration mode"

(Also make sure you have the correct tuner connected to the motor...)

  • Ok thanks I've done that bit now and punched in my coordinates. The dish is currently at 28.2 so do I scan that first? Once that's done how does it know where it is and how do I get it to scan additional satellites such as 19.2?

  • With USALS, the motor does not really need to know where it is, it only needs to know where it is going. (Your lat/long is enough for enigma2 to tell it where to go...)

To scan any sat, go to menu->setup->service searching->manual scan-> select correct tuner motor is connect to and for "type of scan" select "single satellite" and then choose which sat to scan. It should move the motor and then scan.

  • Yes, assuming your satellite dish and motor are installed correctly. If you are viewing 28.2 channels with it set to USALS, then it is probably ok since it will try to move the motor to the correct position the first time you try to tune a channel (or scan...)

  • i'll give it ago shortly. Thanks again for your help. Multi map is displaying my coorindates as Latitude = xx.7721, Longitude = -x.xxx2 but disinter as Latitude: xx.xx17°
Longitude: -x.xxx5° and my iPhone as slightly different again. How accurate do you need to be or is a little difference ok? Finally i'm assuming i just miss the final digit off the coordinates as the box has 1 less digit to enter?

    Thanks

Thanks for your help joe. It's all working. Your a star mate !!.

I'm guessing hannibal channel listing also add all the sats automatically?

Edited once, last by codar: removing long/lat ().

  • I don't use hannibal, but probably yes.

For longitude, you should use 1.xxx ( not - ) and West, but I guess you figured it out. You can also look at the dish pointer link under "Useful links" above to check your coordinates...

BTW - you may want to edit your post and remove the lat/long unless you really want it to be public...
