  • Know it must be old hat by now but got myself a Technomate 5402 hd +motor dish, was thinking seriously about purchasing a Vu+ Duo, but would love to get to grips or experiment with the technomate to be sure i can 'Understand' what these boxes are all about before i spend needed cash on a Vu+.
Is there a jigsaw that is complete on here or a beginners guide that can be read and followed threw to accomplish rewarding results as each step is undertaken, or if not is there a box that does it all for you=meaning all the un-mentionable's that can't be mentioned on these forums.
    thanks for listening.

How to patch and use CCcam on the new Technomate HD receivers TM-5402 TM-6902 TM-7102

Experimenting with the technomate won`t give you an idea what the Vu+ duo is really like.

The TM-5402 is non linux and uses closed source Phantompatch firmware, the duo is linux and uses enigma2 images.. The menu layout and usability are completely different between the firmwares / images..

You can`t customize or load anything onto the Phantompatch.. Look what you can do with the duo -> Enigma2 Essentials ..|.. VU+ VUplus Tutorials | How-To | Guides

The duo is now also old hat. If you gave us your budget we could recommend something better..

What exactly is the un-mentionable's that can't be mentioned on these forums ?

  • Hi thanks for the welcome, Budget £200 unmentionables free stuff cards clines ect, seem to be taboo on other Sat sites/forums..was unaware Tm5402 was not linux, shows how green i am + no one on other forums mentioned that. Will definitely be upgrading now. WOS seems to have good reviews so will no doubt purchase a box from there, any suggestions would be welcome. A box that doesn't tax the brain too much, not that i mind using my brain its just the time it takes to get into gear, bit of advice on what image to get installed as i see WOS send your box with image installed (nice touch) Will be starting from scratch with new box look forward to gaining sum genuine knowledge from this site.

  • If £200 is your top budget and you want a VU+ (which are rock solid receivers and very well supported) then this is worth a look.... Vu+ SoloSE V2 Twin sat tuner

£169 in price with the option that you can attach by usb an external HDD for recording etc.....

If you are starting from scratch then i would go with having it flashed with the VIX image.... very user friendly and also there is a full guide (which i have attached for you) available on how to set it up.

You can talk about cards & clines here bud, the only thing we do not tolerate is payservers.... if you do decide to go down the road of paying for a cline then you will receive no support if you run into trouble with it. Have a look once you get up and running about the concept of cardsharing, this will give you an insight into what this hobby is really about.

yep taking a good hard look at that one, seems to be the bees knees for the beginner. Seen them on WOS for that price. Do you Have to have a card to share if you want to share with someone else? as i don't have any cards to share just got the basic sky broadband, no sat/tv packages with them, have enough D/D sucking on my wages don't need any more.
Thanks for the info shall have a read over w/e before i press the purchase button. BTW if money was no object what is the box that 'does it all'.
    Bill

  • Yes you do need a card to "cardshare" bud..... thats what it is all about. Lets say i have a Sky Uk card with the full package, and you have a Sky Germany card fully loaded. We would card share so that we are only paying for one subscription rather than two or three or four etc etc...

The box that does it all doesn't exsist, i think to be toally honest here you were expecting to buy a linux receiver and then this would just magically open every channel for you??? thats not how it works bud. You can buy a linux receiver and then go down the payserver route as i previouly explained to you about... nobody can stop you doing that, but the payserver route is what is going to put a complete stop to cardsharing eventually. You can buy a line or gift quite cheaply but you have to ask yourself how long will it last?? will it be glitch free etc, if it stops working will the supplier reply to your emails? i bet they won't... because they now have your hard earned cash and can swith you off when they feel like it, and there is not one thing you would be able to do about that...

At the end of the day you need to have something to share.... it wouldn't be fair to ask someone for a line from their server and be offering nothing in return. Even something like BT Sports or a cheap porn card to get you going might work, that would be a small price to pay to be able to share with someone who has the full Sky package which i would imagine is what your after...
