Just killed my box. Learned the hard way chip ID can be modified.
I am trying to use box reanimator but I am stuck with the message
Open Serial Port..
Sync to serial port..
Get Client protocol version & chunk
Time out when read data!
Instructions attached are in polish I think...
Any advice on how to properly use the tool?

yes.
that one gives me another kind of error:
set stb memery error
go back to next and try again
I am using a usb to serial port cable cause I have a laptop...wander if that is the problem.
Cause I tried one hundred times...
but it seems it can connect to the box...

Alffront, if that fails, check cable.
Are you using USB ? or real rs232 ?

Last solution, download this file: noclone.rar
Try this:
1) Load EromUpgrade and run it. Select "Upgrade" and check the "bootloader".
Select the image "HDS2_CMT_Eng.abs" and give "Next".
Once you finish the upgrade will show us these symbols " - - ". Turn off satbox.
2) Run EromUpgrade again. Select "Upgrade" and check the "bootloader".
Select the image "HDS2_SCMT_20110315.abs" and give "Next".
Box wii say "boot" and " - - ". Turn off satbox.
3)Again run EromUpgrade. Select "Upgrade" and check the "bootloader".
Select the original image "HDS2_DUMP.abs" and give "Next".
Enjoy the resurrection. Keep original dump safe.
Alf I will help you when I get home mate I see you have usb to rs232 :-(. I will give it a try though but as I said in the pm I have never really had much luck with usb ones Dazzza
and its not killed until its smoking and even then they can be repaired
A usb to rs 232 will not work you need to use a a null modem cable connected directly from the box to a laptop/pc via rs232
when you do the recovery it can take nearly 15 min and you way need to try several times to get it to work or try different images

I never use a usb to rs232 for openbox, but for ariva ts-100 and it works.
i tried all the possible tools.
I really think it is the cable. Maybe USB to Serial doesn't work.
I played with the USB/serial driver setting to adjust it to the value of the fix tool, COMport, bit rate,.etc

If the noclone.rar (posted by me) dont work......... serial doesnt work.
Try only via RS-232, like phonix says.
agreed I couldn't help the usb to rs232 do not seem to work with the openboxes

I have got the same message.
You should try to use another computer with windows XP. I have done it and my openbox alive!
make sure the loader is set to com 1 and also the usb device.
Most usb devices are set to an oddball com port by default.
I have used usb to serial with no problem.
Make sure you aren't turning the receiver on too fast,it should be done casually after hitting next on the loader.

That one boots on the s10,but the sys info screen shows all zeroes for the id's and the tuner doesn't work.
That means there must have been a hardware difference back then from newer receivers.
The old march 2011 boots to -- on front panel.The oldest s9 firmware that will boot and run on the s10 is the march 25,2011 firmware.

I have exactly the same problem.
I tried to do it with usb and with dedicated serial port on old pc and nothing. Still getting "set stb memory error":-/
null modem cable,loader v2.0.0c and turn the receiver on after you hit next.No hurry turning the receiver on.
Hi guys, I know this is an old file but any chance to have the noclone.rar file again please? it has been removed from its usual place unfortunately.
