i use vix image 4.2.009
for a long time now i have the [ openvix stable available symbol ] on top left of tv screen.
when i go to the motion of doing the update and box reboots the symbol will still say update available.
only the last week it now says there are two updates available, but when i update the symbol remains there.
i am sure i have seen this problem posted on the forum in the past, but i can not find the thread.
if someone has answer to my problem or give me a link to similar thread i would be grateful.

Do you have a storage device attached? If so, does it have any files/folders called opkg*
-
abu,yes i have a storage device attached.
i removed it and inserted it in lappy but i kept getting a screen message to say it had malfunctioned and to replace it.
i have inserted a new usb into the box and made a full backup.
i inserted this usb into my lappy and cannot find a file or folder called opkg. -
just noticed another problem with software update.
the one package that is constantly present should i try to update it these messages start to appear on the screen after an hour and keep repeating them self,s over and over again.

i checked the logs file and there is nothing there.

-
rats picon updater
rats channel updater.
autobouquets E2
linuxsat panel.
ts panel.
ts media.
...................................
abu,im thinking its a usb issue.
i totally started from fresh today.
i reinstalled 10 today and without using a backup installed everything manually.
but the issue happened again.
i changed the usb (this the 3rd one) and mounted it,that was over an hour ago.
so far so good.
can you tell me were i can find my picon folder please. -
without debug logs, it is going to be a problem pinpointing the issue.
The previous command to check for updates I posted was wrong. Correct one is
With regards to picon folder, create one on the usb drive. it must be called "picon", not "Picon" or "picons"
Are self updates enabled on tsmedia?
-
the picons went to flash memory.
i dont use the box for recording.
and since i do not have lots of plugins i thought this be ok. -
the picons went to flash memory.
i dont use the box for recording.
and since i do not have lots of plugins i thought this be ok.internal flash memory is fastest location for picons. That is fine provided you do not have large packs.
-
abu,its starting again.
i will have to learn how to take a screen shot and post it here.
i will not be doing it tonight as my head is melted with this issue.
will you keep an eye on this thread for me and when i find a tut i will forward the info.- - - Updated - - -
what you mean by large packs
-
Some picon packs are 200MB in size.
Rat's ones are only a couple of MB

Attaching the debug log is better. You cannot see some screenshots -
ok abu.
thanks for your time on this issue.
as i said im going to leave it tonight.
i will find a tut and send you the information.
it,s obvious its not a usb issue, its something else.
have a nice weekend and cheers....- - - Updated - - -
sorry just saw your post.
how do i attach a debug log ????- - - Updated - - -
abu,
i will leave it there for tonight.
i will do a little research and send you the files.
cheers buddy...thanks again -
abu.
have not had time to check out how to get debug files, will do shortly.
but i just noticed something in the last minute when i switched back on my vu...(i switched it on by rocker switch on back).
i normally have 6 extensions when i press the blue button.1/ Autobouquets Downloader
2/cross epg downloader.
3/EPG-importer.
4/rats DW channel updater.
5/softcam manager
6/vix.
..............................
when i switched it on i noticed it had a seventh extension.
at the top of the list it had this.
1/In progress softCam check (0%)
when i pressed exit and pressed blue again it was gone.
just wondering if this sheads any light on the problem.
i use mgcamd.1.38 -
the softcam manager in openvix routinely checks if the selected softcam has stopped. if it has, it restarts it. if you access the extension menu (blue button) while a check is in progress, you will see the check the status.
