Hi all just thinking about changing my sky dish into a motorisd one, can you just convert it with a diseqc usals motor?
Its strapped to the chimney at present and that would have to be where it stays due to surrounding houses so dish size will be a problem i think. North east england what dish size would i have to get to make it work or wont it if im stuck with the chimney mounting?
motorise zone 2 dish

I think most common is to go for 80cm on motorized, I have 80 and have no probs
-
Thanks I cant a dish that big up there so i'll have to stick with what ive got.
-
It can be done the back bracket needs some slight work to make the Motor Stub fit but apart from that yes 100% will work, even motorising a Zone 1 45cm can be done

Well now I don't know what I'm trying to get now lol
Information overload. Probably just the easiest ones -
Pick the ones with 50cm to 60cm dish size..if you do not want to change your dish

the problem i have is to miss the trees out the back of my house. I get 28.2e but any further that way might be a problem. I might get a 70 cm dish on the chimney but the problem will be getting the new dish plumb as its been twisted for a long time. Advice would be great

I,m afraid you cant just miss trees, if they are obstructing line of sight then your options are to look at re-locating the dish which i think you said you cant or cut down the trees which is drastic and unlikely to get permission anyway
13 and 19 east which is to the left of sly (28.2)which is the ones you will be looking at trying to get but from the picture it looks like the trees are in the way for those satellites but hard to tell just from those photos at that angle.
P.s that looks like a zone 1 dish not a zone 2.
-
That might explain why i loose picture in heavey rain. I think im going to have to re think this problem with the dish.
-
I had a similar tree problem for certain sats but i didn´t cut them down ,They simply " dried out" hence not growing new leaves or branches in summertime....
But How about mounting the dish in the "garden/yard??
Advantages would be easily adjusted when needed, out of public sight and tree line and better wind resistance...
Just to give you a better idea:
DISHPOINTER
put in your coordinates and tick the box: objects in line of sight to find best place for the dish.. -
