Does anyone know if you can record iptv channels ?...I think this was a disavantage over satellite viewing at the time and only certain sat boxes would allow iptv recording.

some boxes can by the looks of it. Im trying to find out myself. I have amiko alien running pkt but iptv just freezes when you try and record it. I hoping someone in here will know how to get around this.

All depends on the supply line of your iptv as well,
I know on the Zgemma box I use it records iptv just fine

ill have to have a look at this in a bit, iv found hdmu fine ,but thats it fine i also use the xcplugin,
personnaly the a2 is a bit long in the tooth now, iv had mine 5 years, all i use it for is the tuners now and stream to other boxes, the box will need stripping back and a lot of excess removed from the image and make it as slim as possible

Hey PaulDB
I have stripped a whole lot back and have over 45% free on it, I know its clocking on now though and prob not suitable for IPTV. Mine runs fine on it but if i could sort the recording or else find an image that will allow. Its not the provider as I can record it on VLC but the box would be handy

Well after lots of research Im able to record iptv by using a standard kodi box and Tv Headend PVR Client addon. Very impressed using Tv Headend as you can setup Picons and Rytec EPG too. So impressed I made a donation to the tvheadend guys. btw the recording are perfect on to an external usb drive.

Did you download the TV headend app through Kodi. Was it easy to set up.

Have test several box's and the only one i found to record iptv without any problems is the Mut@nt HD51 4k, i am able to record 2 channels & watch a third without problems. W.O.S price £189 the only receiver which says it's IPTV ready on the box.
-
it seems to be hard to record IPTV on most boxes. Its a pity no triple receiver will do it as in Ireland you need satellite plus digital to receive irish channels as they are not on the sky platform under freeview

what image are you running on that one. Is it pre loaded with cross epg and AB manager.

How did you set the Headend app up for your IPTV. Do you put the ip address of your router in there. How do you get the m3u file into it or is this just to allow recording of your iptv
-
I have tried Kodi on my PC with next PVR and after about 2 hours it gives up and on my gigablue quad plus it lasts less than 30 seconds..
-
I found an app in the store which will allow you to load your m3u list and epg guide and allow recording to any path on either tablet smartphone or android box. Works great so far,
Interface is ok and not as nice as perfect player apk but if you need to record it works a charm
-
Do i install this on my stb?
-
plus i have tried it on my mobile and every channel says error loading channel..
-
No its on android. You need to go to the settings and add in your own playlist.
go to settings playlist and add one there. then you can add your epg if you need it. I have it working no probs here

after changing iptv provider the Alien will now record IPTV. However you need to set a timer and let it record from the planner. you cant watch another iptv but can a freeview or terrestrial and playback is fine.
So while its not ideal at least its possible.
