    Hi. Seen mention of people dumping keys off their genuine boxes. Why are they doing this? What can be done with them once dumped? Are keys sub specific meaning you have to dump your own?


    Just looking to learn some stuff.

    You might have got it slightly wrong, they may have been dumping the rsa key from the chip to allow them to use their cards in 3rd party boxes like dreambox/vu box. This allows the card to be shared. Virgin have stopped this on the sport channels as they no longer support the boxes that can be dumped.

    It's possible the newer boxes could be dumped but they are cardless, so no card to use in an unofficial box. VM have only stopped most of the Sky Sports HD channels on the older boxes, others sports channels (including Sky Sports Mix HD and Sky Sports News HD) are still available on older boxes that use cards
