My skins use custom elements, like smooth picon resizing, custom time formats, custom lists.
This is what is in the shared components.
All mod files are exactly that. Mod files and still have to be installed manually as they overwrite exsting core elements. So that is user choice.

Another question...sorry...is there a newer epgselection file available for Pure2? The one I’m using is about 18 months old and I seem to lose picons in the graphical epg whenever I use it. I have it set to show picons but they aren’t there. Without the epgselection file, they are there.

I don't have any picons at the moment. That may be the problem. I'll try and a set and see if that avoids it.

Sorry, correction, I have ocram picons installed. The packs are full of symlinks

I uninstalled the ocram picons and it works fine with your default picon. You can download from https://github.com/picons/picons/releases
Have you eliminated the possibility of symlinks being culprit?

look for infobar screen in the skin.xml file, I suppose, and change the size of the picon , you may need to adjust the position too by changing its values
