Hi all, I have been using a couple of Openbox S9 HD PVR boxes for a year or 2 now and I have enjoyed them...great little boxes. However I am looking to move on up...having flashed the latest firmware including S10 stuff I am frustrated! Mainly I want a box that will play more video files...the openbox plays a few but most of mine it won't...it needs more codec support which isn't happening. With the S10 firmware the channel editor is unusable when you want to edit your favourites. The other thing that annoys me is the lack of EPG on Astra UK...it works well on euro sats but not in the UK.
So...what is the best box to upgrade to do ya reckon? Dreambox, VU...spider...you tell me what you are happy with...especially those that are great media players!

My advice would be to look at the VU+ range and go for the best you can afford.

They're quite a leap up from the Openbox! And yes...you can set them to download a 7 day EPG!

Well a single tuner Vu+ Uno is £244, a dual tuner Vu+ Duo is £290 (That includes postage and discount from the sponsor)
If you want cheaper than that someone else can chip in with a recommendation...I've only ever used Vu+ boxes!!

Have a look at the new ***box f3 hd, it plays almost every format you can throw at it and its been upgrade to true 1080P full Hd and not much more than openbox if your on a budget or ***box M3 HD has encryption program recording via USB, you can play through SD receiver decryption program.

Thanks Canford.... do these play Divx, AVI and MKV files on the media player? I need to watch my films on it...the penbox S9 and S10 usually dont have the right audio or video codecs.

I would go with vu+ duo I read all over the internet before.I made up my mind and whent for vu+ duo the support is great and also its popler so if you hit a snag somebody would of already done it and fixed it. And its not bad looking as well. Have a look at the sponser he as good deals.

If you can stretch to it, I would def say get a vu duo. It's a different world compared to an openbox.

Ok...so I looked at the Openbox F3...cant really see any benefit in getting this as opposed to my S9 HD PVR

Been in touch with supplier and they say they do, but them saying that and working ok is another matter,like wozbwfc said if you got the cash go for something a little better, like vu+duo or dm800se both fantastic boxes but require a lot more knowledge on how to set up etc.

Vu+ aswell mate ... Am not long on the scene and with having a VERY GOOD look through several forums Vu+ appeared to top the charts.

The build quality between clone and original is very little, in fact its hard to to the difference, if you looking to save a few quid get one from china, the supplier i use has been very good and even replaced a faulty box a while back.If you details just pm and will send you details, dont want to put it here out of respect of sponser on here, who by the way if your going original you simply wont find a better deal.
