Are you still using the stock factory image or a third party image ?
Different images require a specific extension type (ipk or deb).
DreamOS Images like the factory stock firmware require a .deb type extension/plugin.
FTP the .deb file to /tmp folder then run this command in telnet dpkg -i /tmp/*deb
.ipk type plugins are for OE-Alliance based images (openpli, openatv, any image that starts with open...). They won`t install on DreamOS images.
I`m lost as to what that means.
Could you give me the steps that you tried.
Tried downloading .deb files from the web.

what did you do next ? what did you download ? what other steps did you take ?
we need exact details if you want a solution mate.

Click on the download button for the attachment.
The attachment comes packed as an rar extension. Use Winrar or 7-zip to extract the contents. Inside will be further rar files. Extract the file you wish to use.
Use a channel list/settings editor to upload the contents of the above file to your receiver.
I have made and attached a .deb installer for you. But i suggest you learn how to upload these settings yourself.
I`ve never used the factory firmware, so not sure exactly where in the menu it is. But look for Automatic scan or manual scan. You won`t find these in tuner configuration or satfinder.
Try Setup > services > Automatic scan for full scan, or Manual scan for specific transponders.

This is regarding Dream box dm 920 UHD, I need to install the latest software " dreambox-image-deb-dm920-20200515.tar.xz"
Before that I pressed the front power button for few seconds "Dreambox dm920 displayed - waiting for DHCP"
In telnet I have typed the below commands for installing rescue loader "zImage-rescue-3.14-r0-dm920-20200511.bin"
wget https://www.dreamboxupdate.com….14-r0-dm920-20200511.bin
Message on the telnet was "bad address"
Could you please suggest me on the above.
the message "waiting for DHCP" appears in only one case if the attached router is malfunctioning or not attached properly ( lan connector may be faulty or wrongly paired)
to update the rescue loader simply type the command at telnet update-rescue -v
