top picks cron job?

What are the cron timing you have on the roots file ?

I had the same issue before and it was due to a configuration on there being incorrect. I will boot my box and screenshot my settings in a bit

Sorry for the delay, that is the issue. I did the same and the SkyPicker.sh one never updated.

Mine are set as below

0 9 * * * /usr/script/skyscraper.sh
00  * * * * /usr/script/skypicker.sh

I noticed I had two folders under /usr one called script and the other scripts. Just for good measure, I set them both as 0777

chenks rises from the ashes.

I have never actually tried any of my skins or mods on openatv 6.4 but I presume they should work. I still use openatv 6.3

So step by step.

You have the 2 files in usr/script

skypicker.sh

skyscraper.sh

you have changed the permission of these 2 files to 755. You do not need 777 as we not writing to them

You have navigated to

/etc/cron/crontabs

you have then opened up the 'roots' file and added in some crons.

0 9 * * * /usr/script/skyscraper.sh

*/30 * * * * /usr/script/skypicker.sh

i.e a 9am scrape. - every 30 mins change picks

You have then reboot your box. And the pictures haven;t changed at all???

So if that is the case, we might need to manually link up the crons folder.

You can also see if your scripts can be run manually without the automatic crons

Menu > Info Panel > plugins > JobManager >

click skyscraper.sh and run it

click skypicker.sh and run it

see if they run with no errors

There are two directories, some folks over look. ssh into your box

/usr/script/..... OpenATV

/usr/scripts/.... OpenVix

chmod 755 /usr/scripts/*

or

chmod 755 /usr/script/*

Not a good idea in practice to 777 as someone suggested

add the cron entry

crontab -e

copy paste the cron entry, modifying the /usr/script"s" if you have openvix as given in the how to guide
