When I try to start the timeshift on my dreambox 920 (OpenATV 6.4) by pressing the pause button nothing happens.
I'm sure I haven't set something. What do I have to do to activate timeshift?

My automatic recording path is: /media/hdd/movie/

You need to have a USB or HDD device correctly mounted to the location /media/hdd. If its mount point is something else like /media/usb then change these settings to match how the device is also mounted.

Ideally the buffer and auto-record location should be the same.
The buffer basically shows how far behind you are in Time shift versus the Live TV stream when it has been paused.
