Rai1 HD freezing box

    I am experiencing box freezing on Rai1 HD. This happens randomly - sometimes after a few hours and sometimes after a day or 2. With oscam switched off it does not happen although I am not 100% sure. Image is OpenPli and this happens on different boxes ( Gigablue Trio, VU Zero 4k).

    Although Rai1 HD is not encrypted there is still some processing on oscam as below

    Anyone else noticed this?

    I experienced many freezes and I've been investigating for weeks by OBH 5. Only when I had a spare box I was totally sure the freezes happened the same even with a totally clean image and oscam running.

    I've been going on from a clean image and adding one by one something and then testing for many hours.

    My conclusion (take it unofficially, yet!) is that the responsible is VPS plugin because the freezes happened again (finally) only after having installed VPS.

    But then a strange thing happened: in Solo4K, after weeks of problems, unistalling and reinstalling VPS solved only after the last update.

    Maybe it happened by chance.

    In the other box, an Ultimo4K, the freeze kept happening and I'm now trying a different VPS binary.


    But, above all, what do you mean by freeze? In my case it was a tragic, complete freeze: at times the channel stopped video but I could hear audio.

    More often, Rai1HD (but also other Rai HD channels which are, since December, FTA: Rai3 HD, RaiSportHD and others) went on apparently normally, and you could watch the channel but... the box was completely unresponsive: no remote control possible, no webif, no FTP, nothing: I could only switch off.


    Is your the same type of freeze or is it just a temporary one?

    Its a full box freeze. Picture either black or frozen. Remote control , ftp, telnet etc no response. However LAN LEDs keep blinking.

    Box needs switch OFF ON to reboot.


    I have VU+ Zero 4k and Gigiblue trio here and freezing does not always happen at the same time.


    I am using standard OPen Pli image and don't think I have VPS plugin.


    I don't watch Rai a lot so boxes are not always on that channel but sometimes it takes over a day for the issue to happen. That's why I am still not sure if its an oscam issue or something else.

    You can easily check if you have VPS installed: this is important to verify, as is the only difference that has caused the issue.

    To check if you have, as I don't know the Pli GUI, the simplest way is to connect by FTP and check under

    /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/

    or, in case Pli is different as the folders are concerned (I don't think so), under

    /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions


    It happens to me even with other RaiHD channels but only with those which are temporarily FTA, like RaiSport+ HD, for instance.

    Today has happened already twice and it's again not crypted.

    Do you also use a Common Interface in your box? (CI+ Module)

    The CAID 0000 is not a valid CAID and can be the reason why it works when you turn off Oscam.


    You can try and make Oscam ignore that CAID by adding it to the oscam.service file

    And then add this blocked service to your Oscam card readers.


    If my limeted Oscam knowlege is correct. Then Oscam will ignore that service when broadcasting FTA

    But maybe s3n0 can give some better advice how to block Oscam from some services

    Yes, of course FTA channels do not need to be decoded at all and therefore they bypass Oscam. You can easily pull the decoder card out of the device and the FTA channels will continue to work. It doesn't matter if Oscam is there or not. This is because decoding is not necessary for FTA channels.


    CAID 0000 is obviously some nonsense. But I don't really know why there is a CAID value of 0000 :).

    Try to delete your existing Oscam and all config files. And from telnet give this command and install latest oscam.

    Are you really connecting to an external softcam-server ? Then there may be a mistake somewhere on it.


    According to the oscam configuration which you specified here, this is a softcam-client that connects to another softcam-server. The problem must be on the server. Not with you.


    However, if you use your own decoder card, in your set-top box reader, then your configuration is completely wrong. You can try the universal configuration for everything - as I have already sent you (see attachment in this post).

    Ok re-installed Oscam with new config files from Mohamed but still getting same activity on Rai1 HD

    I have separate oscam server to share Tivusat card (and some others) with my family. If I turn off the server reader the activity stops. However this only happens on Rai1 HD , Rai3 HD and UniNettuno channels.

    Other pure FTA channels do not show any activity at all.


    So the problem is that RAI1 HD seems sending ECMs for CAID 0000. Is there a way to block it?

    Are you sure the correct configuration is being used?


    Depending on the Oscam installer (IPK package), a configuration directory may or may not be specified when running Oscam, via an argument at the startup command.


    Anyway ... the configuration directory may be different from where you uploaded your configuration files. You can verify this by connecting via Oscam Webif in a web browser (default port 8888, or in your original configuration I also noticed the setting httpport = 8081). In this OscamWebif go to MENU "Files" > "oscam.version" file -> look for the line "ConfigDir:". Make sure that this directory, which you also use for Oscam cfg files, matches.


    Why do you actually use an EMM reader ?!


    Show configuration files from the server. As I already wrote, there is probably a mistake there ! CAID 0000 is total nonsense!

    Yes I am using correct config files. I moved to to usr/keys and set the dir with --config-dir //usr/keys on oscam start

    I changed to webif port manually to 8081.

    So I had AU enabled as I use this box to update Tivusat card on server. Now disabled but the CAID 0000 is still there. Here is new log with no EMM

    Sorry, you didn't answer my questions. You entered LOG instead of the softcam-server configuration. I still don't know if you need and if you also use the EMU module in Oscam (if not, I recommend Oscam without the EMU module). So that's why I can't help you. Maybe someone else will help. I no longer have the nerve and free time for this. Sorry.

    Sorry for that but I posted the log to show that even without EMMs I get the same CAID 0000 stuff.


    Which file shall I post from the server? I have some sensitive data there so cant show all.


    I use CS378x protocol. Is there a way to show which CAIDs my server is publishing ?

    I would suggest that you moonwalker send the files on pm to s3n0

    Then you are sure that no sensetiv info is not public.


    But please kep this thread up to date with your progress :)
