  • follow the onscreen instructions...

the installation script will also answer your questions about the installation...

No idea what you mean, ran the script through telnet as advised and it runs and does not give any errors. Will not be trying it again until others say it works correctly as each time it causes me to have to reinstall a fresh image as even the backups I have (which have the original omb installed) will lock up rather than install. Only a fresh download of the latest image from openatv or openbh will install correctly and then allow me to reinstall my backups after I have added the original omb plug-in.

everything is very clear and precise!

I don't know what error you are getting, you need to give me a LOG file so I can comment.

let me tell you step by step what to do..

firstly, free USB required 4, 8 or higher (for multiboot)

1- install openATV 7.0 to main flash

2- install OMB Enhanced with installer

3- download any team any image

4- downloaded image upload to /media/hdd(or usb)/open-multiboot-upload folder (don't use backup image because I haven't tested it yet)

5- open OMB Enhanced and press menu button (to make your personal settings and save)

6- press green button for image installation and wait for it to install

7- auto go back to main screen and select installed image

8- press red or OK button for start multiboot image (say yes to questions)

    have fun ...

  • No error just locks up the box on restarting instead of loading the selected image. Your instructions are exactly the same as what I am doing except I have openatv 7.1 as my main flash. Are you saying this could be the problem?

  • keep flash image

    connect to device with telnet

    type open_multiboot and press enter

copy the result on telnet screen

    and add it here...

  • Will have to be tomorrow morning as wife is watching the box so dare not try and take it away from her 😉

  • heheh :) ok ok Good luck :)

  • support installing for openViX 6.1 and 6.2 , openBH 5.1 , openSPA 8.0 !

unsupport installing for openPLi, because PLi team needs to update (maybe it will be supported again soon)

note: these changes only apply to the main (flash) image !

you can install the images you want on the multiboot side, regardless of the versions

  • Does not work for me

Does not work properly for me when using a backup image. Original omb installs a backup image and boots into it as previously set but this omb requires a complete setup as if a fresh image was installed. Also, does not appear in the plugins list to remove it so have to remove the plug-in manually. Needs much more work for me to switch from the original omb yet.

  • Can confirm what tbe wrote. Copied/newly installed images do not work. Restarting manually and trying to boot into the original image does not work. It doesn't boot, so don't ask for logs, please.

When installed it just sits there like the king of the word in prominent position with no option to remove the entry and have it shown under plugins/extensions like every other plugin.

I appreciate the work and intention, but don't distribute it if you haven't thoroughly tested it with at least a few images/users/receivers before going public.

    hi,

I don't distribute or share without first testing and being sure.

I did the tests myself on devices with MIPS and ARM processors.

    All tests completed successfully!

Please act according to the instructions for use, if you are doing something wrong, if you don't know how to use it, I can't do anything about it.

You say Log is not important or not necessary.

I cannot help you this way.

you have to give me Log for the solution of the problem!

  • Hi,

I didn’t mean to be offensive or disrespectful of your work. I just wanted to confirm the same problems others have encountered. You can’t always blame your users.

I have reflashed and went back to the traditional version.

    Hello again,

    Nooo I don't blame you!

    I think you misunderstood me?

I said I can't help you or someone X if you don't post a LOG.

  • Thing is if he is having the same issue I had originally then the box just hangs when trying to load the image and does not create a log. I got around this when following your instructions again (albeit could not see anything I had not already done) but then had the other issues as outlined in post #32.

#32 Does not work properly for me when using a backup image. How did you get the backup?

my backups (MIPS+ARM) were properly installed and worked.

Why do you want to remove the plugin?

Do not remove the plugin while the device is running in flash image or multiboot image !

    I wrote in post #25 !

I told you to do this procedure, but you didn't post the results here. You probably haven't done this?

the LOG is retrieved as (#25)

    keep flash image

    connect to device with telnet

    type open_multiboot and press enter

copy the result on telnet screen

    and add it here...

  • The backup I used was made within omb and saved onto my usb drive. I then re flashed my box with a fresh image and then installed omb enhanced and installed the backup after copying it to the open-multiboot-upload folder. It would install but but wanted me to set everything again as if a new image and not a backup. Booted back into the flash image and deleted the unsuccessful backup image and then tried to remove omb enhanced through the plugins manager but it was not visible. I removed it manually by deleting the folder within Python/plugins. The reason I wanted to uninstall it was because it does not work correctly as far as I can see and so I wanted to re-install the original omb again.

  • backups taken with OMB may not work!
I didn't feel the need to test it as the OMB backup would not be healthy.

to transfer the selected settings to the target image:

-open OMB Enhanced and press menu button

    -to make your personal settings

    -press Red button for save

install style (install.sh) this etc. like ones won't be on the OPKG list

    to remove (with telnet)

    rm -rf /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/OpenMultiboot

you back to org. OMB ready
