**What is BackupSuite?**

BackupSuite is a plugin for making backups and restoring Enigma2 images on your set-top box.

**What it does in practice:**

- **MAKE BACKUP** → Save your entire system to USB/HDD/network to keep your settings and configuration safe
- **RESTORE BACKUP** → Restore a previous backup if you have problems or want to go back to an older version

**How to use it:**

1. **Open the plugin** from the plugin menu
2. **Choose where to make backup**:   - USB → Save to USB stick   - HDD → Save to internal hard disk   - MMC → Save to SD card   - NETWORK → Save to network share (NAS)   - RESTORE → Flash a backup image

3. **Press GREEN** to start backup
4. **Press YELLOW** to restore a backup
5. **Press BLUE** for help
6. **Press RED** to close

**Why use it:**

- Protect your system configuration
- Easy recovery if something goes wrong
- Move your setup to another receiver
- Keep multiple image versions

**Requirements:**
- Enough free space on target device
- For USB backup: USB stick with "backupstick" file in root
- For network backup: Mounted network share

The plugin is simple to use - just select where you want to save your backup and follow the instructions.

problem with line 444

that cause delete rootfs.tar.bz2 from folder bi when move to backup folder

Now after stopped that line

Ok

finally I can do the backup on Network or nas.

let's say I messed up all the code and someone will not be happy, but now it is easier for the user to see what he does, the messages are clear. The errors are reduced and their management is logged.

Let's see who wants to be the first to try on NET

Some small fixes can always be done.

Reduced the code in very safe mode.

Let's see how it goes..

### **NET Backup Instructions**

1. **Mount your network share first**:

* Go to **Main Menu > Setup > System > Storage Manager**

* Select **"Network Storage"** and add your NAS/SMB share

* Enter server IP, share name, username and password

* Mount the share and assign a name (e.g., `NET_BACKUP`)

2. **Select "NET Backup"** from the device list

3. **Choose** your mounted network share

4. **Confirm** and start the backup process

### **Best Practices**

* Keep regular backups of your system

* Verify you have enough free storage space

* Never interrupt backup/restore processes

* Use quality USB drives for recovery sticks

* For network backups, use wired connection instead of Wi-Fi

### **Technical Notes**

* **HDD backups**: Stored in `/media/hdd/backup`

* **USB backups**: Require FAT32-formatted drive with `backupstick` file

* **NET backups**: Require mounted CIFS/NFS share with write permissions

* **Restore**: Works from HDD, USB, NET or MMC storage

* Always choose **"Standard (root and kernel)"** when restoring

I think I'm done, it was a mountain of work to redo everything.. yes redo everything.

Now it works:

-mmc
-network
-usb
-hdd
-flash
-restore

Here you can see the tests

and I always attach the ipk file for a test

I need not a Like but a feedback.

I tested on my box, with my image

You try with yours.

If you have a backupsuite installed from the feeds you must remove it.

- for other problems I'm here to answer

Please clarify. If I create backup, will I be able to unpack it over a new installed system different from the one I had previously installed? For example, unpack OpenPli on OpenAtv or BH?
