Check the keymap.xml file, it's there, I had this in past and it was then working with the right button of the remote control, but you can always "change" the behavior of the buttons of the Remote Control on that keymap.xml file.

I think it was also related to the player, gstreamer... but worked with exteplayer3. This is what I remember... you have to try and check.

But did you tried with Exteplayer3 (instead of GStreamer) ? As I think I found out that it was working with Exteplayer3 without any modification.
