Raspberry pi as DVB-S TV Tuner

Hey guys, I came here to ask if there is any way to create TV tuner with DVB-S, something like Zgemma H9 or other TV tuners on Raspberry Pi?
Someone have experience with creating something like that? I saw that RPi have DVB-T hat but I would need DVB-S, I've seen some guys just buying these external tuners and plug it via USB. Second big thing tho is software, Zgemma for example can have openPLI with engima2 but I didn't see any software for raspberry pi, third thing I guess would be tv pilot, but dunno how it should be solved properly, buy some IR hat with tv pilot or something?

Maybe someone have ideas how it should be done or someone already done that? I would be grateful for any tips, thanks!

Have you seen how much usb dvb/s2 tuners are ? And like you say a remote control, plus the pli itself. For that money you could probably buy 2 x zgemma's

And you would also have to solve the software and driver issues trying to get it to work correctly.

If you already have a pi then buying a cheap USB DVB-s tuner is a good option.

There is a cheap USB DVB-S tuner floating around on AliExpress etc, no experience with it though (HD star).

Kodi is the only viable frontend I know of (LibreELEC/OSMC)

If you're buying everything from scratch, it's likely gonna cost more, like Jensen says.

A long time ago there was a cw4000 HD equipment that tuned practically everything, this equipment was very similar to a PC with a skywalker tuner, the project is interesting if I think that the objective is 4:2:2 feeds.

Theres chinese dvb-s2 tuners on aliexpress, sometimes u can get them for as low as 10 euros, its dedicated for some android tv boxes

i was wondering if this could be a perfect fit for minipc/rpi etc to use it instead of a stb, and probably there is, since it is supposed to work on coreelec or w/e this system is called, but it would be neat if it worked on tvheadend or something like that as well...

If CoreELEC does support it, you should be able to take any necessary firmware from their repo.

EDIT: I don't think it's USB. They probably just use a USB connector.

I could be wrong, but it's advertised exclusively as an accessory for their boxes, and it even says "With USB Wifi no".

The only way to know for sure is to buy one and see.
