DreamUP connects but won't load flash loader

  • DM7020HD, turning on the power switch while holding the standby button does not stop the normal booting process.

So I've used DreamUp which connects fine to the mini-USB service port using an FDTI driver CDM v2.12.28, but the power on switch just makes the box boot up as normal.

    No "uploading of flash-loader" .

Do I need a flash loader file to be saved locally?

  • No, DreamUp has inside the SSLs, for the various boxes, but be sure you talk about DM7020HD (v1) or DM7020HDv2 ?

I would try to get the latest one, as for the v2 boxes it is necessary.

Then you connect your box via the USB Cable to your PC, and the RJ45 to the Router/Modem, and your PC via Wifi or RJ45 to the Router. You naturally activate the tick on the Network, and you select a correct IP that is in your network range.

With these things, you are sure it will properly work,

P.S.: You can try also the JapharFlasher v1.1 (which supports the v2 boxes such as the DM800HDseV2), it could help.

    and

    You can find DreamUp 1.3.3.12 (2016) here : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubb…me=dreamup%201_3_3_12.zip

  • No it's definitely a DM7020HD as I wrote it so it is a v1.

USB cable, RJ45 and Network connection all fine. Dreamup recognises the connection so I would expect the list you gave to be ok. But it does not properly work!

It just fails to load the flashloader like the manual shows.

  • Progress but no success yet:

The widely noted "power on" whilst holding the standby button is wrong for my DM7020HD. It should be Power switch plus DOWN button, then it displays STOP with the IP address.

Getting the right USB driver for the DM7020HD was a problem. Eventually the SiLabs driver was installed and works fine.

Now I can get DreamUP to launch the flashloader and then start uploading the .nfi image.

All goes well until the uploading fails with the message "ERROR [Connection aborted] Upload aborted!" I've tried different versions of DreamUP (1.3.3.9/11/12) and various images:

    4.0 fails at about 40%

    5.3 fails at about 30%

    6.0 fails at about 40%

6.1 fails at about 60% and 80% on another try

Sounds like some sort of external time-out but from where?

  • You need to flash with RJ45 + USB Cable connected. DM7020HD Rj45 on router/modem, and your computer with RJ45 or Wifi to the Router. Tick the network that you use.

Also, naturally, a better way to fix is just flashing the original SSL, and not a full image... so you are sure to have it back in good state, to flash normaly via the WebIf interface.

See attached the original SSL for DM7020HD.

  • Haven't heard of what flashing SSL is, so I'll pass on that thanks.

Disconnected some network items and the flash with DreamUP worked fine, and repeatedly, so managed to flash image openatv 6.1 successfully. After that I tried openatv 7.4, and its various versions. All loaded & installed fine but all crashed near to the end of booting with a blue screen telling me "ENUM.DELSYS failed".

Openatv 7.3 was then loaded, flashed, installed and booted fine, however the Dreambox password must have got corrupted so when subsequently trying to upload a bouquet via DreamEdit it failed. Resetting the password to "dreambox" using Telnet and "passwrd" fixed the problem and it's all been working fine except the OLED display has now suddenly decided to change to showing a mirror image!

I can't find any menu with that option in it, any ideas on how to revert it to normal text?

Update - rebooted and it's reverted back to normal text. I'd love to know how something that wacky happened.
