A bit more information would have been great. What are you trying to acheive? Which country are you in and if its the uk have you have sky Q fitted? If you have had sky q fitted before you will need to change the lnb to either a universal or hybrid lnb. Are you wanting to watch free sat or watch the sky channels?
Hi I am in the UK and sky q was fitted yes. Trying to achieve freesat channels and record. Budget about £150 .
Well you will need to replace the lnb on the end of the dish to either a universal or hybrid lnb. I am unsure if you will just get a low amount of channels or none at all with the current lnb. Also i would take a look at the viark thread or gt media thread before buying anything.
Thanks for the response and will take a look at those threads
The reason I gave you those names is because a lot of sky HD channels are available to watch with those boxes.
Thank you. If say I changed the lnb and still ran with two satellite cables which hardware would you recommend?

The sf8008 is a good very good STB for your budget.
In order to record one channel while you watch another, or pause live TV (timeshift) you will also need a hard drive for the STB (or at the very least a usb stick)
Would you think a
OCTAGON SF8008 SUPREME TWIN S2X 4K UHD
would do the job? Or a gigablue

Yes any of these would work well:
Which giga blue did you have in mind?
jenseneverest , it is strange that WOS does not supply M.2 SSD only external hard drive for the ogtagon perhape there are to many varialtions
To be fair, an SSD would be wasted.
A regular HDD is plenty fast enough for recording and playing back TV.
Then again, SSD's have come down in price so much now that maybe it doesn't matter unless you want a huge amount of storage.

more for convenience if i had a choice i would always go for internal storage device rather than external.

Indeed, that really is something that they should look into.
Like Chris said im not sure if the M.2 read and write speed would actually be utilised correctly (i would like to think so - but i just really dont know)
I use an SSD in my ultimo4k for timeshift and basic recordings - its only 180gb so also have an 8tb HDD via the usb3 port. I only have the SSD as it is completely silent.
Prices have come down a lot for the solid state types, and with no moving parts should really be cheaper IMO.
Yes jenseneverest , prices have come down I have ordered 1TB ssd for my new gigablue quad uhd 4k pro.
if it ever arrives ordered and payed for in october last year from impex should arrive from 15. January 2025 but not one email to confirm.
The hold back for me is 1x Dual DVB-C/T2 Tuner v2 (H.265) 44,99€ or the 1x 1000 GB SSD 69,99€ to be honest I do not know will just have to wait.
but as reguards to the OCTAGON SF8008 SUPREME I know there was lots of problems with people buying wrong M.2 SSD from other sources and some would work. others do not Is that not a reason for suppliers who supply to give at least a few options to purchase ones that are compatible.
You never know my ssd for new reciever could be from alibaba or aliexpress. ![]()
