Thinking of using one of these for Astra 28.2
Anyone had one installed and what have they been like?Where are you located ? Even in some parts of the UK that dish may be a little too small. That dish is also poorly designed in my opinion, a sat dish should not be square.
The oval sky dish is optimised for 28.2e. I have a motorised "zone 2" 80cm sky mesh dish that works very well on most sats, and obviously no issues at all on 28.2e even in very poor weather.

I prefer quality solid dish and not into the Sky dish.
I was looking at a Cahors 55cm/65cm or one of these at 45cm.
Speaking to an official reseller they say the gain off the 33cm is super strong and comparable to any of the Sky dishes.
That could all be sales spiel but these dishes have been on the market for ages and they come with a 20 year warranty. Surely they can't be bad and looking at the pics they look to be machined extremely well ?

I use Cahors/VisioSat BiSat in Paris (all), Geneva (all) and Venice (I have only large beam, not BBC, only DanceNation),
BiSat with 3-4 LNBs (13, 19, 23.5, 28.2)

I was originally looking at the SMC Cahors versions. They look to be top quality but was told the Technisat is very good.
It doesn't seem many people have them in the UK. Although both are available.
Better to get real world opinions. Yours look nice but I really want either SMC/Fibreglass or Aluminum.

I definitely prefer the Visiosat/Cahors, installed 30 years ago for my first install (2 of them), then installed also in France (around 15 years ago) and in Italy 5 years ago, all strong and fully working... much better than metal that by now would have rotten... still going strong and multi lnb... 3 or 4 on each, 80 cm which is good enough.
That's my experience, longevity is I think the best, as I don't want to send someone on the roof every 5 or 10 years to replace all...
Right now in Paris, on Clubland,
BiSat (Cahors/Visiosat) is SMC.

Im sure your choice of 45cm technisat would be okay in London (depending on clear line of sight obviously)
And i get your desire for fibreglass or Aluminium, the technisat is powder coated both sides as well (going from there specs) with stainless bolts so rust should never be an issue. Let us know how it goes if you get one

Yes, totally agree. I much prefer quality for an install.
The Cahors SMC/Fibreglass was top of my list. 55cm or maybe 65cm and that should be 28.2 sorted for the as long as that bird is up there.
However, when I spoke to the reseller who sells both he said the Technisat is superb and you can't go wrong with that, which got me thinking.
He said he has had a 33cm up in the North of England and he says it has never missed a beat on 28.2 in all kinds of weather.
I'm trying to get some real world feedback though !

Everything looks very well machined, powder coated both sides and they seem to use hex allen bolts.
20 Year warranty
All looks good other than can't find anyone who has used one for 28.2 !
-
Or this SMC/Fibreglass. Will be heavier and with 10 year warranty

As i said, the sky oval dish is optimised perfectly for 28.2 reception. Either the zone 1 or zone 2 dish. People often underestimate how good a dish they actually are.
They are cheap as chips and well proven. For just 28.2 in the UK i doubt many would use anything else TBH.

At least that is round !! Would be far better with any interference and or poor weather.

I already have one. They rust and are not good quality. The mesh is a compromise anyway.
I am looking to replace it. Solid dish this time.
I understand people use the Sky because they either know no better or because they are cheap or good enough to do the job.
I'm looking at replacing all my front end stuff and quality is more my bag.

Hello, I can't give you my opinion on this dish, since I don't know it, but see the guy named Paillottes who is near my home in France, Marseille and who says that it is very solid and worth a 60 cm for reception.....

Thankyou
Yes it seems that model has been going for quite some years.
A lot of people must have bought them. I am surprised there are not more threads or experience of it.
I understand the doubters but they all seem to be people who have not tried or had experience of it.
Things I like about it are all aluminium and high precision machining. It's size and close coupling to the wall with the official bracket and of course it's longevity.
I am tempted to give it a try in the UK but my 1st choice would be a Cahors SMC, so I am deliberating at the moment which one to go for !!!

It's the price that calms you down, a small satellite dish at 100 euros, guys hesitate, especially of this shape, but from what I've read on French sites, it's good quality and works very well, I think you can go for it.....

Price of both is within budget. Quality is never cheap but neither are that expensive

You are right and as I always say, the price is forgotten and the quality remains.....
