  • ZouRemote Plugin for Enigma2

ZouRemote allows you to use your mobile or desktop web browser as a remote control for your Enigma2 receiver.

    Key Features:

    • Access your receiver by entering its IP address and port 1991 in the browser.
    • HTTPS must be disabled on the receiver for the plugin to work.
    • Once you open the plugin, you need to activate it from the Enigma2 interface.
    • The web interface is optimized for mobile screens, making it feel like a native app on your phone.
    • Full remote control functionality directly from your browser, including navigation, playback, and more
  • There is no need to download any application on your mobile phone. I will give you detailed instructions on how to do it.

    1. Extract the file ZouRemote.tar.gz and place its contents into a folder named ZouRemote.

    2. Connect to your box via FTP and copy the folder to the path /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions (fig. 1). Restart Enigma.

    3. On the next startup, you need to go to the Plugin Browser to activate ZouRemote.

Since you don’t have a physical remote control, you will use a virtual one from your computer.

Open your web browser and enter your box’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.222 in my case).

Using the virtual remote, select: Menu → Plugin Browser (down arrow) → OK → ZouRemote → OK.

Press the Green button to activate the plugin (fig. 2). If nothing changes, press the Green button again (fig. 3).

Press Exit-Exit-Exit to return to the main screen and then go to Menu → Standby/Restart → Restart GUI.

After the next restart, the plugin will be active and ready to receive commands.

4 On your mobile phone, open your favorite browser and enter your box’s IP along with port 1991 (e.g., 192.168.1.222:1991 in my case).

You can now use it as a remote control (fig. 4).

  • I have a wireless mouse (Logitech M305) with a USB dongle, but I had never connected it to the sf8008 because the enigma GUI does not support a mouse.

There are some applications that do support a mouse, such as Web browsers, Kodi, YouTube, etc., where you cannot really use them without it.

Enigma does support wireless mice. It recognizes them without requiring any additional configuration — you just plug in the USB dongle and it’s ready to use.

The following images are from the YouTubeTV plugin.

  • You can watch on your PC the channel that is displayed on your TV through your local network using VLC Media Player.

    * In your web browser, open the Webif of the sf8008 by entering the receiver’s address (in my case http://192.168.1.222/). See fig. 1.

    * Go to the "Bouquets" tab, open the bouquet, and select the channel that is playing on your TV.

    * Click the TV icon next to the channel you want and save the file (Das Erste HD.m3u8 in my case).

    * Open the file with VLC Media Player. You will have video and audio of the selected channel. See fig. 2 and 3.

    * You can download the entire bouquet (TV icon), but only the channels on the same transponder will play.

    * If you change to a channel from VLC that belongs to a different transponder, you will also need to change it on the TV.

  • ## 🛠️ Technical Highlights (v1.0)

    - **Zero-Dependency Web Server:** Built using Python's native `http.server` for maximum compatibility across all Enigma2 images (OpenATV, OpenPLi, BlackHole, etc.).

    - **Smart Paste Support:** Includes a custom JavaScript injection engine that allows users to "Long Press to Paste" text directly into the Web Terminal—perfect for mobile users!

    - **Fast API Bridge:** Uses an optimized `wget` loop to communicate with the local WebIF, ensuring near-zero latency when zapping.

    - **Stealth Logging:** The server runs silently in the background without cluttering your system logs.
