Not true!. Any built for the OE architecture the image runs on and with dependencies will work.
It is likely is that you transferred a binary without installing the dependencies or the ipk you installed listed one with slightly different name and failed to install correctly.

If you run oscam by command line with the -V toggle, it will show you whichc modules are enabled as well as highlight any errors/problems encountered. As an example:
/usr/softcams/oscam-latest -V
