  • hi all i have my debian 6 server up n running but i am unable to install the client updater from terminal? i have had a history of network problems on my server which prevented me for some time to share my lines outside of my network! but now i have decided as a last resort i will install the update client on the desktop byut now i dont even have an internet connection on the debian desktop?

i think this is down to a network interface issue on linux but i have no idea how to resolve it, below is a pic of my network connections which strangely is blank when clearly my server is running oscam and cccam without problems? can anyone help!

    OSCAM 1.20-unstable_svn build #6059
    CCcam 2.1.3 server

  • check your network interfaces file through etc/network/interfaces -
should have the below text for correct setting.

    Quote

    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

78cm dish on tm2300 metal gear motor + 1m Orb with tm2300 + 1.8m Channel Master on H-H floor mount + 80cm ISS with TM2300 AND Inverto Black LNB,inverto Unicable QUDL 42 LNB,- Global invacom Dscc LNB,- Triax KA LNB, - Yuri LNBF C Band YLF-CDP16C

  • here is my etc/network/interfaces folder and to me it all looks fine? but im baffled as to why i have nothing in my network connections folder, can you see anything wrong below mate?

    # The loopback network interface
    auto lo no2 eth0
    iface lo inet loopback

    # The primary network interface
    iface eth0 inet static
    address 192.168.1.200
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    broadcast 192.168.1.255
    gateway 192.168.1.1
    iface no2 inet static
    address 192.168.1.11
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    broadcast 192.168.1.255
    network 192.168.1.0

  • Why 2 static ips'

hash # out or simply remove the second ip settings

i dont know exactly but i cant see why you need that ?

78cm dish on tm2300 metal gear motor + 1m Orb with tm2300 + 1.8m Channel Master on H-H floor mount + 80cm ISS with TM2300 AND Inverto Black LNB,inverto Unicable QUDL 42 LNB,- Global invacom Dscc LNB,- Triax KA LNB, - Yuri LNBF C Band YLF-CDP16C

  • on the pic i added there is a network manager window in which i added this second connection but it made no diff?
i have removed it and rebooted but still the same. im baffled?

  • address 192.168.1.200
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    broadcast 192.168.1.255
    gateway 192.168.1.1

    maybe gateway should be 192.168.1.254

    i''m guessing though

  • I have same problem......you won't see anything in the connection settings, God knows what the problem is but i got internet all the same!

Comparing your interfaces to mine i have made changes above!

Just double check that the settings are correct i.e (Static Ip, Gateway e.t.c you can find the network info by using another windows based pc and view details of your internet connection)

  • Hi i am having the same problem as soon as i add ip address in here i am unable to log in can some one give a hint on the order they have to be in and what you have to write in here
i feel so close but so far away i spent many hours trying get this to work but i wont give up thanks for a great forum and a great read

i have follow Tutorial - Ubuntu 12.04 64-Bit - Automated Oscam/CCcam 2.1.3 Install Package all loaded on a computer with a omnikey reader thanks

  • post you interface file mate found in etc/network/interfaces

but if connected via ethernet cable

    # The loopback network interface
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    # The primary network interface
    auto lo
    iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.200 (Static Ip Addy )
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1 (Default Gateway of Connection)

Use this format just change for your details? you can find these by logging into your network detail on another PC! Go to connections and view details..all info for your network will be there apart from the Static Ip which you obviously change to the Server one in interfaces config

  • BT Router

    Simply log into the router

Go to advanced settings - Ip addresses and set lease to 21 days and apply.

Now click on Devices and you will see your server, click on it and simply choose

Always use this IP address: YES and save.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Set Static IP

Ifconfig will show you current IP and route -n your gateway (bt router gateways are 192.168.1.254)

    auto eth0
    iface eth0 inet static
    address 192.168.1.100 (ip from ifconfig)
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.254

    save and exit.

    then

    service networking restart (as root)
