    No problems pal,


    the bootlogo and bootlogo_wait will change the ones for the boot sequence


    radio will change the backdrop when you with over to radio channels


    If you change the backdrop.mvi also that should change the main Vix backdrop your seeing.
    (just rename/copy the bootlogo.mvi to backdrop.mvi and ftp across)

    Not to keen on games on PC so IMO i would get the Xbox and leave him with that...taking into speed of a PC, Memory and Graphics required i think the Xbox may be cheaper?


    However looking on fleabay...Quad Core 8/16GB Ram with 1TB HDD seem to be going from 300ish!...thats the Unit only no Screen e.t.c!


    If the Pc you have already is half decent keep that and get him off ya back with the Xbox and a few car cleans lol

  • Timed Recordings and Shows that start a lot earlier than advertised

    Recording issues!


    The timer will use/access all free tuners in order of programs starting/recording so depending on how many tuners you have...will determine how many channels
    can be recorded at once!


    I have Dual/Two! therefore....if i am watching BBC1 and want to record a movie it will use Tuner B for recording and keep me watching BBC on Tuner A, should i wish to record
    again at same time Tuner A will start to record and i will only be able to watch what is being recorded on either Tuner A or B!


    Your timers depending on image can be adjusted to suit!


    You should be given an option when setting a timer to adjust the parameters....before and after times e.t.c
    To my knowledge it goes off your EPG....however i wonder if it would update the listing to show the time difference if it was altered through the program....so football and penalties for example!


    It may be Image or EPG settings dependant....hopefully someone else will pop up on this issue....but i find if i set the timer for the program it normally picks it up when the program starts and then starts recording! But have never noticed/tried with program delays!


    I would doubt there is a plugin to resolve this issue though...hopefully just a case of fine tuning settings

    for those boxes its normally all through the menu...you can enter the line manually or by uploading via a USB


    Think its Network settings . if you can't see CAMS or CCCAM then it may be hidden....think you need to press 4 or 5 00000, 33333, 66666 if i recall....long time since i used them :snicker:


    Either way by entering one of the above the CAMS or CCCAM profile should show up!


    From there you can enter manually and input your line in the appropriate sections (Host, Username e.t.c)


    Or upload from USB (and if you have copied the line in Cccam.cfg format and line is active/correct) select the file you require from USB and ok or save!


    Check to ensure its set to active and save!


    Box should restart or manually restart and you should be in!

    Start from scratch buddy, its no problem to re-flash (have you got backups of any lines e.t.c)


    Reflash using a clean image (i.e no plugins) as per normal and add the things you need step by step! (why you would want facebook on settop box is beyond me lol)

    These are images already setup with plugins/cams e.t.c and are a good starting base for any newbie! The top 3 by TenBelow will give you ample to play with and you can choose BH, Vix or Openpli!
    (IMO have a look at the Vix image and go from there if to basic/simple or you want to experiment)

    The problem you have with all of this is that its like a Stand Off with Guns drawn!


    Who has the bigger guns! Yes it is true that you don't have to give your details, don't have to have your house searched, don't have to pay your bills/credit!


    BUT

    You need to know your stuff to the letter!!!!!, need to have big bollocks and need to be untouchable in any matter of the law/Road Traffic/lending/credit e.t.c



    With the Law - Assumption/Presumed/Descriptions and 3rd party undisclosed information can get ya!


    With the Road - They can do or assume any road traffic violation!


    With information - They can ask you or obtain verification for any reason!


    With credit/finance - Any credit does not have to be paid/can be avoided/can be deemed void (unless TAX, VAT, CHILD SUPPORT or COUNCIL) without any threat of imprisonment e.t.c!


    Various bits on the Net about all the above if your interested, but with anything its a case of knowing, being prepared to fight/argue/be inconvenienced and certainly with finance whether you believe the digital money is real and how it all works lol and the lengths and scare tactics people/companies go to get you to back down!


    The more people stand up the quicker change may come

    This must be the most asked question....just pops up in different forms!


    All down to budget and requirements!


    If you can stetch to £300 = Solo2 if you can go further the Duo2 below it.....Duo or Uno if you can get!


    Main difference between Solo2 and Duo2 is the fancy LCD screen on front of Duo2, Duo2 can take 2.5 and 3.5 and Duo2 has double flash storage and double memory to name a few!


    But Solo2 small compact and Dual Tuners so works a treat!

    cheaper parts/2nd hand parts - poorly put together...too much adhesive lol!


    Clones vs Originals!


    piece of mind, original and new components, no flaws (like clone remote - got to be in line with reciever e.t.c) - New software/drivers e.t.c


    and with a clone, if you have a family using remote, switching box on and off, using different USBs e.t.c you soon start to notice the difference in build quality e.t.c


    All this is IMO of course, but me clone is gathering dust now - remote hammered - USB ports worn.....the solo2 has been running a year and not a mark, scratch or anything on remote, box and ports e.t.c!


    Its like the cheap N*ke trainers you can get!


    Buy in a High Street store - £80 you can wear for months/years!


    Buy off fleabay or a friend/market - £30/£40 and the sole comes away after 3 months e.t.c lol

    TBH mate with that type of kit the best option will be running the cable from LNB and having separate feeds = seperate control (if you see a sly man ask if he fancies some cash in hand lol)


    the 2nd option will work, but why have a porsche if you only travel 30mph lol!
