    Hi Bud,

    I take it you have installed MGCAMD softcam on the solo?

    Once installed mg_cfg and newcamd.list should go in usr/keys

    the newcamd.list (line) is in correct format? i.e - CWS = ip.address. portno username password 01 02 03 04 e.t.c?

    the mg_cfg file is configured properly mainly changing the box type property to 06

    Once above is checked and correct

    Have you tried activating the CAM (mgcamd) from box - go into softcams > mgcamd should be there > press Yellow button to activate/restart

    if all above is done you should connect and show channel

    ftp the ipk file to your /tmp directory on your VU using DCC

    Then within image look for install local extensions in the menu/setup options and it should show the tspanel ipk for you to install

    All ipks should be sent to /tmp directory and install via install local extension

    or

    put the ipks on a Fat32 USB plug it in and it should ask you do you want to install....depending on image used!

    All down to the Pound Notes buddy!

    £300 or Under Solo2 or Duo but id get Solo2

    £450+ Duo2 Baby....when it comes but as you have 7 weeks to wait im sure it should be out then!

    Image wise........newbies tend to try Vix 1st.....ease of use e.t.c! BUT REMEMBER no long counter waiting for images to install....just copy and dump on USB and reflash! all can be done in a few minutes so the
    fun is in trying the images out yourself and selecting one best for you and / or the Mrs / Family needs lol!

    Hi Bud,

    Resizing the picons is gonna be a bugger lol! You could use an online image resizer....but you may have to do one at a time?

    Or Photoshop and run image resizing script from File Menu option! (That will enable you to bulk change)

    I do believe picons need to be no more the 100x60 pixels in size so i wouldn't exceed that!

    The service reference numbers for the picons correspond to the channels so these would have to be the same in order for the picon to show on correct channel....some more info on picons below

    The file formats

    * Where are the files located? /etc/enigma/picon
    * What does an example file name pointing to the .png file look like?

    1_0_1_957_327B_3277_6400000_0_0_0.png = the Plicon of 1600e_golden_west_network.png

    * The file name, what does it mean?

    1 = reftype, fixed
    0 = flags, fixed
    1 = servicetype (1=tv)
    957 = SID
    327B = transponder id
    3277 = network id
    6400000 = namespace (orbital position 1600 --> 640 hex)
    0 = parent SID
    0 = parent transponder id
    0 = unused

    The icons

    * What is the file type? .png
    * What is the .png's image size? 70px x 53px or 100px x 60px

    Hope this helps Bud!

    Do we get a "deliver on time or your order is free guarantee" lol!

    :snicker::snicker::snicker::snicker::snicker::snicker::snicker:

    They are or some are anyway being shipped out in Europe....order being taken with delivery dates confirmed so i wouldn't worry too much!

    Perhaps the News is free trade in on a Solo2 unit lol I wish!

    Picons are static images for the channels on you Reciever buddy! Various styles and formats around!
    they are shown in the info panel to the left of the now and next channel listings! Infobar can be accessed by pressing ok on remote whilst watching channel!

    best stored on USB for speed and ease of access but on HDD if you don't want a USB plugged in!

    some details in theead below regarding how to access and get on to your box!

    http://linuxsat-support.com/pi…h-picons-help-please.html

    To my knowledge unlike Engima2 boxes your unable to download and organise from a PC using DreamboxEdit e.t.c

    But you can manually organise/create them using the remote and Menu settings from the F3 and save them! TP_PROGS.dbs file i think

    Save this to USB and then you can then upload them to other slyboxes/openboxes F3's e.t.c

    no sticker on the underside of the receiver but theres one on the top, bottom left hand corner

    If the sticker states "Don't update software from other place for it may.........for new software please go to ***.******.tv then its a clone bud

    You may also have a V2 (Version2) or V3 (Version3) sticker on it...and look at box and/or manual....you will notice fading and uneven writing perhaps!

    Tell tell signs its not legit and copied/cloned

    Vu range boots Amiko out the ring IMO lol!

    Shouldn't go wrong with the Vu stuff buddy!

    The choice to make is Duo or Solo2 or Duo2 - depending on budget! (£250, £300, £500)

    All will do as you wish!

    Solo2 and Duo2 newer and faster then Duo!

    So the choice depending on how deep ya pockets are is up to you!

    Yeah that was probably not the best comparison lol

    Its more like a Generation thing!

    You have Enigma1, Enigma2 and Closed source! Normally distinguished by age and price!

    Anything over £100 is likely to be Enigma2 (Which is top level, best Type of box to use) Vu, Gigablue e.t.c - Plugins, Images e.t.c everything can be used or configured for these boxes!

    Under £100 likely to be Enigma1 or Closed Source - so either OLD or Simple like Openboxes e.t.c WYSWYG type of box good for picture/sharing only! and will not allow you to add anything to it! So plugins e.t.c a no no unless supplied by the model/brand!

    So if a User wants any and everything the Hobby can offer they go for an Enigma2 box! (which you have done)

    After that is your image (Which you have chosen Vix) But can change if needed?

    After that are plugins, channel lists e.t.c which can all be found/downloaded from forum or from plugins menu within the Box/Image (Vix)

    You set these up how you like for functionality though the box, so channel list for tvs, ondemand plugins for Iplayer e.t.c, Youtube for youtube viewing e.t.c!

    All will become clear when you box arrives and you start playing

    HI Bud,

    Good choice of box there im sure you will have fun!

    In a nutshell

    Enigma2 is the operating platform for the receivers, Enigma1 was old, Enigma2 is the latest/uptodate and allows you to use all the goodies/plugins available for these receivers. Bit like DOS,Linux and OS e.t.c

    You then have Images that are more like the Operating System/Software - and the major players are Vix, Blackhole, AAF, Vti to name a few! These Images are based loosely on the same functions, just dressed up differently with different UI e.t.c!

    Vix is a good starting point for most but its easy to reflash your box with different images so we always advise to try them yourself and see what you like.

    Enigma2 boxes offer the use of the latest software and plugins!

    Plugins are what we install on Enigma2 platform within the Image Software and these are programs/applications we run within the image.

    Like a PC you can install any amount of plugins/apps as you like providing they are compatible (version) and you have enough disk space

    I think you asked them to install Vix image? this is a good start and when you get the box post back with any further instructions you need buddy!

    Dyndns address hasn't expired has it? If you using?

    *** HD not clearing? You got sly HD as local? New pairing method maybe if not dyndns??

    MrBlonde,

    THe dish size/package will open up a realm of different sats and channel you will be able to access given the correct sub or share so always good to go bigish lol!

    BluRays - will play how you get them to your box is up to you, you can stream from BR on a pc or copy them from PC to HD on receiver (you will probably be best to get a larger TB+ HD and install yourself)...obviously the bigger the HD the better for BluRays! Data Holding!

    New to the Game we always suggest Vix, Its easier to navigate and easier on the eye somewhat! but like i always say flashing is a 2 minute thing so if your not happy you can reflash one of the other images! and as with everything its all about experimenting!

    Get you box, VU rocks, and go from there bud....but that should clear a few things up for you!

    FREE APPS! Kick off iTunes app store 5th birthday celebrations FREE APPS!

    iOS owners are in for a treat this week, as Apple has kicked off the App store's 5th birthday celebrations with a series of discounts. iPhone and iPad owners can now pick up a large list of games and apps for their devices, without having to pay a penny.

    Infinity Blade 2 is arguably the highlight - it's a stunning RPG running on Epic's Unreal engine. Other must-play titles include Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP and the incredibly popular Tiny Wings, but there are plenty more to download. They are all free for the duration of the birthday celebrations, but as Apple has yet to put up a landing page we'd suggest acting quickly in case they are a time limited deal.

    Of course, the promotion isn't just focused on games - you can pick up plenty of useful apps for free too. Highlights include Traktor DJ, a music mixing app that usually costs £14, Day One Journal and the Reeder RSS feed aggregator.
