LOl sorry i was very drunk when i posted this . get him an f3 they are a nice small cheap box for a room and if the remote packs in what i havent seen happen they do have buttons in the panel

certain tv's and fluorescent lights will mess with the remote signal.

Lol no worries mate...
The s10 has buttons on the front panel he's just going to have to use them until I find a solution.
Will try the box on another tv to see if its interference with his new tv.

I assume you have tried another remote batteries etc already m8 as if your kids are like mine everything keeps getting dropped possibly the actual remote its self
-
I wonder if a re-flash of the firmware might help?

Hmm interesting why didn't I think of this, will give it a go today thanks mate :)

If you have a mobile with a camera on point the remote at it press the keys, you should see the flicks of light coming from your remote on your mobile.
All that proves is the remote is working. -
i recently had issues with an f5 remote.standing 2 feet from the box and it wouldnt work at a friends house, brung it home and reflashed it and added a new cline.seemed to work a lot better.i took into my neighbours yesterday and again same problem.after having a good read around last night i found people having the same problem and fixed it by removing everything like there virmin tv boxs from the unit and having only the sat box there.the remote signal from something might be clashing with the sat box.heading into his to try it out, might be worth a long shot try with yours m8

Thanks mate will give it a go
