extend wifi distance 200 yards (aprox)

    Im looking to enable my friend to use her mums wifi from across the street, its no more than 200y, maybe not even 100y.


    She has to be quite close to her mums house to pick it up at present, I haven't tried anything at this stage, what would be the cheapest way to do this?

    make a cantena .i used one to get my parents connection was a arse to build but did work

    24dBi Wi-Fi Parabolic Grid Dish - Professional High Gain Directional Antenna this will sort yo out well for £80 for 2 of them off ebay depends how much you want to spend and how well you want to do it ive a couple and got a mile out them

    You can also use a bog standard Satellite Dish...


    Replace the LNB with a WiFi Adapter (Secure Adapter with whatever you can get your hands on), run the usb cable from the Adapter to the PC.
    Piont the dish at her mums house.
    And thats pretty much it.. I have done this before and it worked about 400 Yards, never tested over that..

    If budget is top priority, use orig method, more than enough for 200 Yards..

    I said yards, I meant feet, its literally across the road and a little diagonal, Stevejo, I may use your suggestion for a different project :)

    i have also used dir615 routers off ebay at £8 each i bid for them put dd-wrt software in them this allows you to make a repeater bridge but also allows you to turn up the tx power output if you do this put them somewhere well vented as they get hotter dont turn it up too high unless you modify and fit heatsinks it will do your trick you can place them at the windows slightly more professional than windsurfer :taxman:
