Getting rid of ***

  • Hi, the bills for *** are getting way too much (£51.99 per month for broadband, tv and phone). Going to cancel the TV and get the broadband and phone with a cheaper provider.

I was thinking of getting a VU+ DUO box or a SOLO2 and using it in place of the ***+ HD box. It would pay for itself in under a year. Would I be able to configure it to record TV series, etc. I've got an old TM-500 which i used to use in the other room. But it's not in use anymore.

I'm a little bit doubtful of getting it in case anything goes wrong or it ends up not working and i've ended up paying for an expensive experiment. I'm thinking of setting it up with blackhole or a vix image, and then using a card sharing CLINE to set up with ccam to get all the channels. I will also be putting a hard drive in the box. My question is this. the ***+HD box was admittedly a load of crap, but no self maintenance was needed. Is it relatively easy to maintain a VU+ box for it to have the same features?

I think I just need convincing to take the plunge and get rid of the ***.

    Kindest regards.

  • your prob best just cutting back the package. ditch the phone, and have lets say just entertainment, or get rid of *** and sub to box nation. cant see anyone willing to share with you without a local or something in return. most people will trade sports for movies and so on.

but if you ditch them completely you will have nothing to share with anyone :/
