  • BH 1,79 was working well in flash though i used other images no meoboot. Yesterday i noticed that The reciever is booted and there is no display. When i press a key the fromd led just blinks no video nor it gests switched off with remote.

I reflashed the image it flashed as usual (in 3 minutes) but there is no display. The only unusual thing i noticed thet when the box power is unpluged for few hours and when i connect if the front light remains at standby (red ) i need to reset click to get back to green.

another thing that happend it there was a big lightning yesterday.but the box power cord was not plugged in and the pc as well as hub were off. Here i get a dobut because PC conneted to the same hub is also not working though the hub is working properly.

Is the boot loader corrupted or there is some hardwaew issue with the strong lightning

  • My guess, replace capacitor C807 on your main board.

It should be absolutely true. Was doubt the same. Well i'm not too sure which capacitor is c807 it should be 47uf/400v (which i feel swollen when i compare it with other capacotot )

Let me change and post the results

  • Just i was learning about the C807 replacement , C107 is easy to repalce in vu duo as its a normal tradtional capacitor but here in vu solo its a small, hybrid or embeded onboard (exactly not know what to say )where there are no values mention nor a person who has basic soldering exprience can replace needs a specialist to replace it.

Sorry, I misread your post and thought you had a Duo. Not sure if the Solo is the same but I would replace ANY capacitors that look swollen.

  • probably nothing to do with it as you are assuming it is a hardware problem,,,but,,,
¿can you connect to the solo through FTP or TELNET??
Its just that you mention no video.. which makes me wonder about other possibilities

  • Thanks for the support all of you. One thing i can confirm is lightning was the reason behind this issue. As My TV,PC and Vu are dead All these were connected in LAN Switch.
TV has a power issue as i am following that too with a blown capacitor in the power board , Same with motherboard and i am expecting the same with the vu as i have dobut on one capacitor on
the power board. Will report today as iam going to replace the capacitor today.

  • OK m8 do that if you are sure that the VU problem is the same as TV, but just answer caz's question above

It would be ill advised to start soldering before confirming that it really needed to be done and it was your last option..
As you said, your VU was plugged out when lightning struck. The router might need to be reflashed & all your static IP's & portforwards etc. might have to be setup again. Damaged router or router flash seems way more likely to me than a power surge through the LAN Cable..

You are true soldering should be the last option. As I already removed the capacitor on the power board 44uf/400v.Which i suspect to e faulty as it is slightly bulged from top and i bought the replacement. Will post the result in evening. Replacing Capacitor c 807 is not my cup of tea in solo as its a micro embedded capacitor.

And assume the power capacitor fULTY BECAUSE initially when i discovered the box fault.Box acted weird like whin i plugin the mains the light remains red always and after 20 minutes when i press reset ti blinks to green. And it continued to green> But after unpluging for few hours the sitiation remains the same back to red.Thats the reason i want to replace the Capacitor on power board

  • OK m8, good luck & hope it works out.
Make sure to use the smallest/sharpest soldering head you can find to avoid damage to surrounding components.
If its an old soldering head, clean it by jently rubbing it off a wet sponge when the soldering iron is at full heat (or better still, use the pad if provided).
This will help you to work faster & cleaner..

    Report back

This thread and some of your symptoms has given me an idea to double check capacitors on an old DM500 that was acting the same.. I have nothing to lost there though cos its just a paperweight at the moment..

  • I do ave basic soldering experience and can manage is easily & more over the capacitor is very far away from other components.
& you know All the 3 equipments which failed due to lightning has a similar problem ie no display, the motherboard ,Vu & the tv .
Well i have given MB for replacement as it was under warranty, Tv techie is expected any time.Unless the MB arrives cannot test the vu with Null Cable.

  • If your sbt/tv ect got a jolt of lightning usually hit through the mains
if you have black fuses in tv/stb you will be changing bridge rectifiers soothing
    caps/ choppers transistors ect..
PS BE VERY AWARE OF CAPACITORS ANY WHERE NEAR THE PSU.
ESPECIALLY ONE'S WITH 400 VOLT AS THESE ARE PART OF THE ACTIVE
SMOOTHING AND CAN STILL REMAIN CHARGED ALWAYS SHORT CIRCUIT
THE 2 POLES OUT, as you can still get a nasty shock or even _______________ LOL

  • Yup you are true friend & thats the reason iam not trying to repair tv as iam pretty sure what is the fault as there is a complete video on youtube to troubleshoot that symptoms,

Secondly i installed the capacitor but the result is same no video,
Another thing a few members were asking above regarding telnet and Ethernet is not working as there is no light blinking on the ethernet port nor its getting detected on router

The last option would try with null cable when the motherboard arrives .

Can znyone post the link of procedure to update with null cable

LASTLY ONE FINAL CONFIRMATION DOES RCA OUT WORK AFTER A FLASH AS IAM CHECKING ON A 5 INCH TV WITH RCA NOT ON HDMI

You might have difficulty there m8 because you need both LAN connection with static IP & Null modem connection to flash by null modem cable..

I cant post link to other forums so Just google:
    "Null modem flash VU+ solo"
as there is no tut that I could find here on linuxsat..

I feel you might be left with just the jtag option m8 (Sounds like corrupted firmware/bootloader/initialization after surge) but try the null modem flash first if you can..

  • As instructed download a instruction file to vu utility.
In ccouse of serching i got another file stating how to use 2012 latelest firmware for vu solo .I think this is for old vu solo which doesn't have version 2,0 here there are 3 steps
Step 1 Check version (no need if its alredy v 2.0 )
Step 2 Flash memory content with renew flash exe file by selecting up flash 120227
Step 3 Erase memory with erase 126.exe
step 4 upgrade secret ic with some file
Later u can upgrade cfe solo 2.0

    You can google it by
how to use 2012 latest firmware with vu+ solo
