external harddisk playing movies

    Hello i am new here
    i have bought vu+solo2 I've installed black hole 2.0.3 image, i have few problems


    i have external hard disk formatted into ntfs copied many movie files avi mp4 etc.. but what i have noticed that my receiver doesn't play at all, i have already mounted the drive into hdd/media. it shows file but when i press play it shows me black screen. Am i doing something wrong? does this device works as a media-player?? is there any procedures for how to make device play movies ?


    i will be appreciate if someone who can guide me or help me .

    Are you using a media player plugin to play the files? I am not too familiar with the BH image but on ViX you can go to the movie list (where your list of recorded events are) and browse the files on your drive by changing the folder, and then pressing OK to play. With the media player plugin again you browse to the files, and you can add them to the playlist.


    Be aware that the playback of any movie file is dependent on the device having the appropriate codec, so if they were coded with something unsupported, then they might not play. I have had several files that don't play on my receivers that are AVI and MP4, and some that do, so the ones that don't can be converted by free apps you can find on the net.

    If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....

    its not about playing codecs issue its about harddisk with many movies format in ntfs but doesnt recognise i have to format into vu+solo2 ntfs-ext3 and add again in manualy from dcc+ with this way it works but it takes while to transfer datas..
    i have ready files on a external harddisk and i want without formating to read my files and play also on my vu+solo2. is there any way?

    vlc player downloaded but is asking me to conect for server!!! i dont want to conect into server i just want my external harddisk to work as a media player can this device works as a mediaplayer with ntfs format?

    As for external USB or HDD ..
    BH media player works quite well but as muso already pointed out ,,
    not all files can be read yet.....but can be converted..
