Hard drive size/noise

  • Hello everyone

Well I've took the plunge and got one of these. I'm a total noob and getting it set up was a faff, but got there in the end! Running Vix image.

Just a question about the hard drive- which size should I go for? My main concern is noise. 1tb I guess would be warmer than a 500gb, will this make the fans noisier? How would it compare to an Xbox, which sometimes sounds like a hair dryer?

  • Hi yesmate, I am new at this Linux Sat Receivers as well, and settled for a 500Gb Seagate 2.5 inch. Very very quiet and I was remarkably surprised at the cost. Also went for a 8Gb USB Flashdrive, small enough, as has been mentioned in another post, to keep plugged into one of the spare USB sockets at the back, handy for extra backup if needed. You will find a lot of help and information on this forum. Welcome. :shake:
