Static IP

    I have been trying to set up static ip address's on my huawei HG531 but when I put an ip of say 192.168.2.4 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 I get an error message saying,


    The destination IP address "192.168.2.4" and the subnet mask "255.255.255.0" do not match with each other.


    anyone know what I am doing wrong please

    remember
    NAME SERVER : 192.168.2.1
    GATEWAY: 192.168.2.1
    activate network card
    unmark DHCP
    then restart router then pc then box..in that order..


    my huawei HG531c has IP of 192.168.1.xx
    NAMESERVER: 192.16.1.1
    worth a try..
