  • A bit more info please m8.. Putty & WinSCP are normal apps, they just take seconds to install..

    Firstly, have you installed ssh?

    Code
    sudo apt-get install openssh-server openssh-client

Secondly, have you setup a static IP address for your ubuntu server?

  • hi m8ty thank you very much ive install putty and ive just in sudo apt-get install openssh-server openssh-client from you and
do i need to set up a static ip address now thanks mark

  • Yes you need to setup static IP Address, otherwise the IP will change on server or router reboot..
The easiest way is to go into router configuration page (Usually 192.168.1.1)

Firstly find the MAC Address of your server in the connected Devices list
Then, find a tab called "Static IP" or "DHCP Reservation" or something like that..
Then add an entry for your server using the MAC Address you found above and the required IP Address (e.g. 192.168.1.100)
Click apply or ok or whatever it may be on your router and thats it..
Either reboot server or router or both and your set..
