hi all ive been on for weeks now trying to set up a pc server ive just install ubuntu 13 and its just took me 3 days to install putty and now i am haveing problems installing winscp now it and any body please help me out :-)
please help with winscp

do i need to set up a static ip address now thanks mark -
Yes you need to setup static IP Address, otherwise the IP will change on server or router reboot..
The easiest way is to go into router configuration page (Usually 192.168.1.1)Firstly find the MAC Address of your server in the connected Devices list
Then, find a tab called "Static IP" or "DHCP Reservation" or something like that..
Then add an entry for your server using the MAC Address you found above and the required IP Address (e.g. 192.168.1.100)
Click apply or ok or whatever it may be on your router and thats it..
Either reboot server or router or both and your set.. -
hi tryed all sorts been on for hours now haha every time i try and set a static ip i cant use the internet any more , i am using a belkin f5d8233, if anybody can help out trying to figuer this 1 out :-) thanks
